While the vehicle was stationary, the dashboard cracked just above the instrument panel. There are 2 cracks. One is about 4 inches while the other is about two inches. After some research, it appears this is a very common problem with GM vehicles.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the dashboard had extensive cracks on the front drivers and front passenger side near the glove box associated with the air bag components. In addition, the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V381000 (air bags) and the parts had not yet been supplied from the manufacturer to the dealer so the contact was unable to determine when the air bag recall may be performed. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Takata recall received a recall notice from Chevrolet in July 2016, called our dealership 2 times and Chevrolet and have not received a date or a repair GM recall number 49151
There is a recall, no GM has not issued a solution to replace the airbags. Safety issue plus dashboard cracked on passenger side at the seam where the airbag is located. Dealership does not have an answer to resolve problem.

I attempted to trade in my truck and was told that since my car has an open recall, the value is greatly decreased. Why is the governement allowing me to drive a vehicle that could potentially cause me harm and not properly protect me in the event of a wreck
The dash in my car cracked for no reason. What concerns me is that the crack is next to the airbag on the passenger side. If this airbag were to deploy it could cause the broken pieces of dash to turn into projectiles causing a dangerous if not deadly injury. This vehicle has never been on anything but smooth paved roads. The vehicle only has 61,200 miles on it. We were on an interstate when this occurred.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V381000 (air bags). The part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
My dash board in my vehicle is cracking for no reason! it is cracking in 2 different spots. One in front of driver but the one that really concerns me is the one on passenger side. The crack goes to the air bag and I'm so scared my bag will deploy randomly like the crack appeared or if it deploys upon impact sharp hard plastic edges can be harmful! this is not just cosmetic and even if it were Chevrolet needs to be held accountable!

Takata recall - received notice of recall 07/2016, still have never received notice there is a fix for this recall. Meantime, anyone riding in my vehicle is at danger. When will a fix be available now especially with takata threatening bankruptcy?
Dashboard is cracked in front of the driver. Hard plastic knife like structure are exposed to passengers. Also cracked on the passenger side airbag area. Chevrolet states it is cosmetic. This is potentially a hazard for the occupants.
Takata recall - recall was issued May 27, 2016 for passenger side airbag - 16V381. GM has no information when parts will be available for the repair and I was told they are waiting for the NHTSA to approve the replacement procedure and parts. When will the parts be available? I also have a 2011 Toyota corolla with the same issue and no answers. It has been 6 months and we have no answers from NHTSA! please act.
Takata recall. This vehicle has recall airbags. GM foot dragging claiming "no parts" but other manf appear to have. Endemic problem with cracked dash on GM vehicles makes danger airbags even more threat for front seat pax. This vehicle dash replaced once already. GM refuses to pay but this is a safety hazard.
The dash board around the airbag is cracked. I have found on the internet this has been a known problem with these cars in this year. I am in fear that if the airbag deploys the dashboard could fly off and injure a member of my family. I don't understand why nothing has been done concerning these dashboards with all of the complaints...... I guess it takes someone to be killed for someone to take action!!!!!!

Dashboard is cracked on both sides driver and passenger and General Motors refuses to pay for it!! this should require a recall and the NHTSA has done absolutely nothing this could be life threatening!I
There is a serious safety risk which is not being addressed by my local Chevy dealer. The propellant in some types of takata airbag inflators can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. If the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries. I have a three year old son and am in the process of trying to have another child. If I do get pregnant and the airbag deploys I could be killed along with my unborn child. This needs to be addressed immediately for the safety of myself and family.
