This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Vehicle was stationary. Dashboard cracked in two spots over time. Vehicle has not been in an accident. First crack was noted over the instrument panel of the vehicle's gauges that are used to determine speed, rpms, etc. Second was noted adjacent to the front passenger airbag. If the vehicle were in an accident, the cracked dashboard could puncture the airbag rendering the airbag unusable and allowing for more bodily harm and possibly fatality. Also, if the vehicle were in an accident and the airbags did deploy without being punctured, the cracked dashboard could then become shrapnel causing more bodily harm and possibly fatality to anyone that is a passenger in the vehicle. I urge the NHTSA to look into this matter and research it heavily. Chevrolet and GM are aware that this is a common issue with many of their vehicles of the '07-'11 models, yet refuse to take any corrective action. I obtained a repair estimate from a certified Chevrolet dealership for $761.63.
I have a crack in my dash that is near the top left hand corner of my airbag panel. Also, there is another crack that goes over the top of my instrument panel. The cracks appeared out of nowhere. The vehicle was not involved in any kind of wreck. The cracks were pointed out to me when I took the vehicle in for an oil change appx. Six months ago. I am trying to trade in my vehicle and I am getting $1,000 hit on the trade-in amount offered. The more I investigate it seems this is a common problem. Why has there not been a recall"??????????????"
Dashboard is cracked on both sides driver and passenger and General Motors refuses to pay for it!! this should require a recall and the NHTSA has done absolutely nothing this could be life threatening!I

The dash on my vehicle has broken 2X and is broken again causing the dash to allow an opening where items can fall into the airbag compartment causing the bag to malfunction.
The dash is cracking on passenger side and driver side. And the cracks keep growing. The add washer fuel light stays on and there is fluid in the reservoir.
Dashboard is cracked. Concerned about safety in the event the airbag deploys. The vehicle has not been in any accidents. No chemical or cleaner has ever been applied to the dash. It looks like a stress crack or manufacturer defect.
My Tahoe was parked when I noticed 2 cracks on the left hand corner by the passenger side airbag on my dashboard. I also have a really large crack on the dashboard above the instrument panel. I am concerned that airbag will not deploy correctly if I were in an accident.
The dashboard has cracks in multiple areas which has created a safety concern if the airbags were to deploy. I'm concerned that the plastic that is cracked could fly/hit driver/passenger in the case of airbag deployment.
My dash is cracking and breaking around my airbag. This seems like it could be very dangerous in a crash. I'm worried that either the airbag won't deploy as it should or if it does, there will be shards of plastic dash flying around in the cab. Nothing happened to the dash, it just started cracking.
Plastic dashboard has developed several long sharp cracks which have broken off from main dashboard. Discontinued driving vehicle due to worry of plastic dislodging and causing harm in event of accident or bumpy road.
