The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. The vehicle has B.F. goodrich T/a, size P245/75R16 tires. While driving 40 mph, the front passenger side tire blew out where the tread meets the sidewall. The rim was damaged. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but they could not determine the cause of the failure. The dot number was unknown. The current mileage was 151,000 and failure mileage was 140,000.
Vehicle tire blow outs and tread separations. While driving the passenger side rear tire tread separated from the tire damaging the right rear fender and mud flap. The next day the drivers side rear tire tread separated damaging the wheel well and mud flap. The consumer request reimbursement for the damage to the truck plus the difference in the remaining life of the failed tires. The manufacturer refused reimbursement stating that the tire was operated for an unknown period of time with insufficient air pressure.
Firestone steeltex class action status request. While pulling a fifth wheel trailer at about 50 mph, the driver heard a loud thump from the rear of the vehicle. The consumer stopped and noticed that eh rear tire had separated and the loose tread end was hitting the mud flap and curled the panel upward into the wheel well. Upon request the consumer sent the tire to Firestone on May 18, 2004. On June 8, 2004 the consumer received a letter from a law firm indicating that his claim for reimbursement had been denied.
Wilderness AT model # P265/75R16 lft/rear tire disintegrated on the sidewall. Manufacturer was contacted, and stated that it was probably because of air pressure. While driving 75 mph, the truck suddenly dropped to the left with indications of a blowout.. the consumer discovered the tread on the tire had separated.

Firestone steel tex radial 24575R16, dotvn11bac original tires; there's only 530 seconds of tread left on all for tires. Left rear tire tread completely separated. Cause is unknown.
I was traveling on interstate 287 North at approximately 65 mph when I felt rattling and my vehicle starting shaking. Moments later, the tire exploded. I lost control of the vehicle for a few seconds, was able to gain control and move the vehicle safely on to the shoulder. The sidewalls remained on the rim, however the entire tread separated.
Tire blow out on interstate. The tread completely separated from the tire and driver lost control but regained control of the vehicle and was finally able to stop on the left shoulder. Owner still has the tire and separated parts. There was some damage to the pickup truck when the tread of the tire hit the wheel well. Chrome was torn and bent, the wheel well liner was ripped off and the bumper was damaged.
The weather was clear and approx 70 degrees (F). It occurred on I-25 approx 10 miles North of pueblo, co. The tread was in good shape and the pressure was correct. The tire suddenly competely separated and shredded within seconds. (dot number: W273wma259 tiresize: P265/75R16)
At 25,000 miles right rear Firestone, Wilderness AT tire size: P265/75R16, dot: Unknown developed cracks in tread. Then, with approximately 40,000+ miles on other three tires on 1999, Chevrolet, Silverado, cracks have developed in tread. Firestone center is offering to prorate tires at 54%, and replace them with other Firestone tires. Dot number W272wma238, consumer requesting all tires be replaced.
The passenger side rear tire tread separated from the tire while driving causing damage to the fender, the consumer replaced all four tires and is seeking reimbursement (Firestone Wilderness AT P265/75R16), consumer is having difficulty from the manufacturer who states the tires are not included in the recall. Consumer stated he noticed there were bulges in the sidewalls of the two front tires, consumer states he dismissed it thinking it was normal, when vehicle was being serviced for tire rotation, mechanic advised consumer that bulges were not supposed to be there and to contact the dealer, consumer was advised by dealer that tires were covered under warranty, consumer then took vehicle in to have tires inspected and was advised that manufacturer would pay 50 percent towards the purchase of new tires, consumer was told that the reason that manufacturer would only pay 50 percent is because there were signs of tread wear and the vehicle history due to consumer moves around a lot, as well as curb damage.
P245/75R16, dot vn11bac049, original equipment on a 1999, Chevrolet, Silverado with 30000 miles.tread separation at 60 mph caused extensive damage to vehicle, $ 3600. Firestone ATX tire, damage done to the fender and tailgate of a trailer that was being pulled, vibration was felt when tire separated, consumer replaced tires.
While vehicle was turned off, the electrical brake pump would still run. Firestone at tire experienced tread separation, Firestone would not replace, but did give a discount, tire size P285/75R16.
PE 00 040/tread separation: Vehicle expereinced two separate blowout/tread separations. First occurred with left rear tire, and second occurred with right rear tire while traveling at 70 mph with driver and one passenger in a 1999, Chevrolet, 3500 pick up; original equipment, tire size lt 245/75R16, dot# unavailable. Vehicle sustained minor damage. Dealer notified. Tires are Firestone steeltex.
PE00040, original equipment on 1999, Chevrolet Silverado company car, Firestone steeltex tire size lt24575R16, made in Canada. Front passenger tire tread peeled off which almost caused a crash and caused damage to the vehicle. No other problems on the other tire as of yet.
