When attempting to apply brakes while hauling/pulling materials or riding brake pedal, there will suddenly be no resistance behind brake pedal, and consumer can push pedal all the way to the floor. Dealership has examined vehicle, and determined operation of brakes to be normal.
3 times in same applied brakes hard to stop, brake pedal soft, truck did not stop very fast. On the 3rd time, I hit another vehicle. The truck should have stopped in time before hitting the vehicle. Have to push extremely hard on pedal, but truck still does not stop fast enough. Roads were dry. I feel the ABS brakes do not stop fast enough in an emergency stop.
The anti-lock brakes on my truck will often activate when going over speed bumps, minor pot-holes, or slippery surfaces (as one might expect). However, when the ABS activates, it feels like I lose 50% or more of my braking capability. I've come close to hitting objects (no people, thank goodness), when my brakes feel like they've cut out at slow speeds. When the ABS kicks in, I have learned that my stopping distance is suddenly going to be 2-3 times longer! once activated, the anti-lock brakes don't seem to return to normal braking until the vehicle has come to a complete stop, or until I remove my foot from the brake pedal! I'm sure it's only a matter of time before this defect will cause someone's death!
Emergency brake gave way on flat ground, and subsequently ran over driver's legs. Emergency brake goes to the floor. The rear brakes lock up. It was hard to shift into first gear and sometimes pops out of first gear.
