The consumer experienced problems with the brakes. When the brakes were applied, the brake pedal vibrated and went completely to the floor, there was no pressure in the brake pedal. There was also a grinding noise occurring at the same time. The consumer stated the problem was sporadic. The dealership was unable to duplicate the problem. In some instances, the consumer was unable to stop the vehicle.
The ABS light came on and remained on and the ABS motor continued to run even when the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken vehicle to three different dealerships, however the problem could not be determined.
Anti-lock system on vehicle engages at a very slow speed. The vehicle would not stop. The consumer was informed that the front hub sensors dropped out. The consumer knew a person that experienced the same problem in which that person was informed that the problem would occur between 50K and 55K miles on these vehicles. Per invoice, the brake had worn out. The consumer requested reimbursement.
While braking, if the truck hits a bump or rough surface, occasionally you can feel a vibration in the brake pedal and it has no stopping power. You can let up on brake, then re-apply and stopping power is provided. I am told by the Chevrolet dealer, where I purchased the truck, that this is a problem with the anti-lock braking. When I asked about a recall on this, I was told there was none.

While travelling over an expansion joint on a bridge, the anti lock brake system engaged as if truck was skidding. This caused consumer to lose temporary control of braking and steering functions which resulted in a collision.
While driving at any speed, and with no warning, if consumer hits a bump in road anti lock brakes will not work, and it will be hard for vehicle to stop. Dealer notified.

While driving 5-10 mph powersteering went out, brakes as well. Brake pedal went to the floor. Vehicle was towed to dealer, ower steering pump failed, causing the brakes to fail, as well.
The problem is when coming to a stop (under braking) if you don't come to a complete and total stop and you decide to switch back to the accelerator, the truck free revs for about half a second and then dumps the transmission in gear. While this has yet to cause me any dangerous problems, I believe it very well could in the rain or ice/snow. If you're not prepared for it, sometimes it hits hard enough that for a moment you're somewhat disoriented, representing a dangerous situation if there's other traffic around.
When stopping, brake pedal was down to the floor. ABS brakes locked up and vehicle slid before coming to a stop. Took vehicle to dealer who could not duplicate the problem. Dealer replaced leaking master cylinder and deglazed the rotors. Transmission experienced slipping, clunking and would not shift into 1st gear, dealer replaced transmission. Rear end is noisy, U-joints have been replaced, however noise reoccured, consumer states Chevrolet has a U-joint and bearing problem.
While attempting to stop on wet blacktop, the prodigy failed to apply adequate power to the electric trailer brakes causing a serious reduction in overall braking. When the anti-skid system activated the prodigy failed to sense enough deceleration to function adequately. This truck has a prodigy electronic brake controller.
I was traveling westbound on state route 262 at approximately 32 miles per hour when I encountered a stopped vehicle. I applied the brakes and the vehicle began an initial brake and then lurched forward without my releasing my foot from the brake pedal. This caused me to strike the vehicle in front of me. The air bags did not deploy nor did the seat belt properly restrain me. This caused me to strike the steering wheel with my chest and stomach. The hamilton county police office documented that the air bags and the seatbelt did not properly function. I was sited for following to close even though I feel that the brakes failed. I plan to appeal the ticket due to this reasoning in court on November 29, 2001. The safey of other owners/drivers of these vehicles is what prompted me to write. I would like to know if there have been other failures. Please send them to my E-mail address: Mbrusman@cinergy.com thanks for your time and attention with this matter.
ABS brakes, do not stop. I was going 40mph and a flock of turkey was in the road, I put on my brakes and they went to the floor. Thank god that there was no oncoming traffic. Your brakes are there to stop you, not to go to the floor and travel about another 100 feet. I know there has been alot of complaints about these brakes, and my dealer said my brakes are fine. I guess it will take people getting killed in order for someone to adress this problem. Another problem>>> I have this clucking nosie in the rear of my truck, it sounds like the rear of the truck is going to fall off. A dealer stated that the drive-shaft yolk was dry, they removed drive-shaft and lubed yolk. Problem is worse than it was before. This is a 2001 brand new truck, I should not be having all these problems.
