Takata recall. The contact owns 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated the passenger air bag needed to be replaced. The air bag warning light illuminated. The contact noticed a crack across the dash board and believed it was from the air bag pushing from underneath the compartment. The dealer (hedrick's Chevrolet 961 w shaw ave, clovis, ca 93612 (559) 840-3182) was contacted and informed the contact that they was unable to provide assistance as the recall parts were not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated received NHTSA campaign number: 16V381000 (air bags) however the parts were not available to remedy the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and informed the contact not to have anyone seated in the passenger seat and to contact NHTSA. The failure mileage was not available. My dash on my 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is cracked in multiple places, including over the passenger airbag and instrument cluster. Over the instrument cluster there is now a 6 inch wide hole which leaves electrical components exposed. This is a large safety issue and I would like to have a factory replacement since this a widely known defect by GM.

"takata recall" I have had a takata air bag recall on my vehicle since May 2016. I have contacted the local dealership and the Chevrolet manufacturer for repairs and they continue to tell me parts are not available for repair. I have also filed a claim on the takata airbag inflator claim and notification center hosted by prime clerk llc. I cannot sell my vehicle to a private party because of the air bag recall. It is taking way too long for repairs and this is causing a hardship. This is a major safety issue and parties need to be held accountable for their slow and unresponsive actions.
