The truck would take off on its own. The steering column would lock up, and the brakes would fail. The transmission is currently slipping an d these are just a few thing that are/have happened.
While slowing down to make a right turn the engine stalled and the electrical power was lost rendering the power steering inoperable. The loss of power steering created a dangerous situation where I almost hit a tree. Also there has been several occasions while driving on the freeway the electrical power stalled. Thankfully it was only for less than two seconds, but I can't imagine what would have happened on a busy freeway had it not been only a temporary loss of power. I read online that these problems are not uncommon. I have taken the truck to a Chevy dealer where they replaced battery cables they said had some resistance in them. It's been a month since the repair ($1300 later) was made and have not experienced any problem since. After experiencing these "power failers", there would be a message on the dash that would state "OPEN THEN CLOSE DRIVER WINDOW'
Seal deteriorated on 3rd brake light at top of cab, allowing water inside the light and the vehicle. Concerned about possible wire/electrical short circuit.
Severe overheating and smoke from rear defrost window area. Same issue happened to my vehicle as described in recall number N192265660 with GM. I used remote start to warm up truck and when I went to get in and opened the rear door, smoke bellowed and a bright red glow (flame?) at the rear window was present. Due to the low temperature outside, cold air rushed in and the driver side rear window fractured from thermal shock. Appeared as a short or bad circuit caused the extreme heat in this area.
I purchased the silverado 2014 in July 2018 dealer ship in Orangeburge SC. 3 months after driveing the truck i pulled to stop sign when pulled off the stearing wheel went left and my intentions was to go straight my luck was on my side that day. I finally fought the steering back straight and pulled over turned truck off then started back up and no probloms until later on started getting codes on the dash so i took to dealer ship closet one near me, they reboted the ECM and i told the service manger at that time i open the hood and showed him the wire that sometimes i go to start truck all it would do make a cliking noise open hood shake the big cable coming from the battery then truck would start, finaly summer arrives i start useing my air condition it finally went out took back too dealer they say needed new compressor i had warranty at the time replaced compressor after 2 week no A/C back 2nd time a/c issues they put die in compressor no leaks drive another 2 weeks same no a/c tack back to dealer then they tell me my waranty has run out and appears you have condinsor leaking refrigerant they wanted me to pay for i finally agreed to pay half and dealer pay half. Going back to about the second time i took the truck to the dealer when it was under warranty showed service manager cable that would cause truck not start until wiggled the wire. He told me that if that problom would have to change the ECM he said would cost alot of money when come 3rd time they refered to a dealership in Rockinham nc. so they could do a electrical codes diagnostic after my warranty had out when i asked why dont yall have the machine hear after you seen me at dealership 7 times after took truck ROCKINGJAM NC. DEALER checked codes erased few and few weeks later get into crash going arond a suv and cotton picker after starting go around suv turns left i tryed to turn steering wheel back over to my drive lane i had no stearing crashed into suv both total loss.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 50-65 MPH, the turn signal switch was engaged, and all the dashboard lights turned off temporarily. The contact was able to drive the vehicle. The contact stated while pulling into a parking space, the vehicle inadvertently lost power steering and electrical power. The warning message "Stability Control Activated" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic. The failure reoccurred while the independent mechanic test drove the vehicle however, the independent mechanic could not duplicate the failure since the OBD reader was not reading any codes. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 88,400.
My truck will start flickering and shuts off jerking the steering wheel out of my hand, then tells me to service stabilitrak. It mostly happens when I am driving (coming to a stop sign/light and/or while turning). Had it taken to two different dealers and they keep telling me it-??s a mechanical issue when It seems more electrical.
I was towing my 44 foot trailer and I suddenly got an error that the trailer and the braking system was not connected to the truck. Luckily I was not going fast and was able to still stop but I have been driving the truck also when nothing was attached to my vehicle and I get that same morning trailer brake not attached in an error. I have contacted Chevrolet and they say there is nothing wrong there-??s no recall on it but if you get online and all the places were the owners of General Motors trucks you will find numerous complaints about this problem they say they cannot duplicate this at the shops. But it continues to happen they say replace this and it still happens replace that and it still happens there-??s a major problem somewhere and I imagine there have been accidents due to this error. I think it needs to be looked at from what I can tell it has not been I also had owned a GMC 20 14. 1/2 ton pick up and it had the same problem and I got the same answers. I reported this problem with my 2014 GMC 3-4 yrs ago
Truck has 98,500 miles on it. Radiator is cracked and leaking, roof leaks when raining, electric power steering randomly jerks the wheel out of your hand and almost causes you to crash.
wiring harness for vehicle is poorly design and is sitting next to hot engine block where the wires are melted and caused a short in the whole entire vehicle, all system is shut down when overheated, this means while traveling at any speed everything goes dead which is considered a highly unsafe situation.
The system that failed is the speedometer display and radio display while driving. This can be dangerous as I do not know the speed I am driving. This can also be dangerous as the display includes the screen for the backup camera that turns off without notice while backing up. The problem has happened many times in my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. I have a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado for a company vehicle and the issue occurs in it, as well. I notified the GM dealership where both vehicles were purchased and they said the screen could be replaced but would be very expensive. No warning lamps or messages occurred. The screen jumps around a lot and occurs at various times (morning, afternoon, warm or cold weather, etc.).
I estimate this has happened over 10 times. I lose all electrical power to the vehicle and the car shuts off, often this is preceded by loss of power steering and low speed. The last time this happened when pulling out into traffic; the steering kicked back, the truck lost all electrical power, dash went blank, radio dark, including loss of head lights, I will reiterate that this happened while pulling into traffic. This truck cost me over $40k new and I believe Chevy is aware of the problem, then simply don't want to cover the cost of parts and labor to fix. The dealership told me they had no idea what the issue could be, then I found several GM documents online. It appears this is a known issue, and they even list 2015 Silverado on documents. Bulletin No.: 18-NA-161 (The issues in this match exactly what I've experienced) also Reference Number:N172085440 Please help me convince Chevrolet to fix this issue or force them to do a recall.
