This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
A/C only blows hot air, cannot defog windows at certain times and increases the likely hood of my newborn getting over heated. It is a known issue with General Motors and they said it is the NHTSA that will not do the recall because it is not dangerous. Well we will see how dangerous it is when we cant see because it will not defog window or what the hospital bill will be when my newborn overheats because of a faulty A/C compressor and bracket for the hose. A 2014 should not need a $1600 repair. That is 3 months payments for a A/C.
Paint is peeling. Started out with a small piece of paint peeling on the back drivers side door. This evening I found a much larger place missing paint on the drivers side just to the left of the windshield. I did a google search and found this is a common problem with 2014+ model years. Is anything being researched or done about this so that GM is will correct the issue? I expect more from a $40K+ vehicle.
62000 miles, and my 2014 Silverado's, ac condensor is gapped, and seeping freon...this needs to be a national recall. Even an ac man told me he keeps a huge amount of these condensors on hand because they break too often, and too early in a 2014-15 Silverado's. simply a design flaw..and say to costly for such a simple crack. Thank you for recalling this.
The air conditioning system failed because of a leaking condenser with only 51,000 miles on the truck. Researched and found this to be a frequent problem that GM is aware of. GM needs to recall this and repair these vehicles. I wrote to Chevy and they will not reimburse the fees I had to pay for repair. The issue needs to be addressed, this system failing when just outside warranty is not right.
While driving my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado the ac unit began blowing warm air. I am now forced to drive myself and my infant son while being exposed to potentially lethal temperatures inside the car. Every time I remove my son from his car seat he is sweating. In addition, if it is raining outside my windows become almost impossible to see out of since the defroster is linked to a properly working ac unit. GM knows about this systemic issue in all similar vehicles and has refused to rectify the hazard or mitigate the heat exposure to my child.

The driver's side rear back glass shattered as the truck was parked in my driveway. The glass has rear defrost heat wires in it and apparently there is a defect in this glass. Other reports say there is a spall in the glass and it is happening quite frequently.
The ac went out on my 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500. GM will not do anything about it even though they said the are trying to determain which VIN numbers they should recall. Looking online there are thousands upon thousands of ac going out in these units do to faulty manufacturing. GM should be held responsible for it. Not everyone has $1200-$2000 to fix this issue out of pocket for a 3 year old vehicle in which we already paid 40K for.
At 41,000 miles the air conditioner compressor and hoses had to be replaced. And when headlamps are on and I hit the brakes or turn signals the dome light flashes.
While making a left turn into my driveway on a city street going approximately 10 mph, my steering wheel suddenly jerked to the left out of my hand, and the entire vehicle went dead (lost all power, lights, etc.). because the steering wheel locked, I was unable to turn fully into my driveway. As a result, the bed of the truck was sticking out into a major road and I was almost hit by cars coming around the curve by my driveway. It was dark and rainy. I called someone for help and we pushed the truck out of the roadway as best as possible, considering that the steering wheel was still locked. The truck would not restart. All power was gone. The only way I could think to move the truck was to jump start it with another vehicle. After jumpstarting the truck, the dash info system displayed, "action required: Open then close driver window." This is the 2nd time this happened after Chevy dealership performed recall 17276 "temporary loss of electrical power steering (eps) service (during low speed steering maneuvers). There is a tsb out alluding to this issue: #pit5405C: Steering jerks or kicks back / reduced power steering assist / engine stall, etc. (Jan 27, 2017). Why is there no recall"?" this is a major safety issue and could have been deadly!
The mylink and radio keeps going out eean after being replaced. The dashboard funcions act erratically with blinking and then resets the statistics. When the horn is konked the mylink and radio go dead. The dangerous part id the dash functions acting erratically. Hope it does not stall on my on the highway infront of a semit truck or something.
Ac unit has gone out twice now within 70K miles and I drive a lot in Texas heat dressed professionally and have 3 children. I have owned Silverado since I was 18 and am now 46 and have never once had an ac problem. After reading a lot of complaints on multiple forums I over last few years I would think this would have been resolved as a recall issue already
There is a defect in the A/C condenser. Coolant was leaking from a hole in the condenser and the A/C no longer worked. The truck was very hot to drive in. The repair was very expensive $800. This leak was not a result of any body damage or crash.
2014 Chevy Silverado manufacturer defect paint problems. Took to dealer at 36700 miles and 6 months out of warranty. Response: Sorry its out of warranty. This is obviously a manufacturers defect. Https://www.youtube.com/watch?V=ovybv0ln-bw&feature=youtu.be
Ac is blowing warm air. Brought to dealer 7/17/2017 and was told the condenser was leaking after charging me $200 to diagnose they told me my warranty would cover the repair but I had to wait for the part to be redesigned and made available. Two and a half months later 10/02/2017 they had the part but now told me that my warranty will not cover the $1100 cost to repair. I did not have the $1100 since I was told the repair would be covered. I also do not believe that the customers should have to pay for a part/repair on a known bad design.
The ac started blowing out hot air when I was driving back home. Took it to dealership and it came back that I had a broken condenser hose and it leaked out all the coolant. According to GM there well aware with the 2014 models doing this. That there's a defect in the hose, don't see why owners of these veichles should have to pay out of pocket.
My air conditioner quit working and I was told it was a leak due to condenser. I did some research and found this was a highly common issue in similar GM vehicles
