This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Truck has rough breaking at low speeds. It-??s due to the break pump recall on this make, year and model. The break pump also makes a clicking sound when engine is running. Common in these trucks.
My vehicle lost the ability to apply brakes or slow down, the vehicle had a rock hard peddle at low speed. There was no illuminated light on the dashboard no warning! I barely avoided a collision and scraped my truck driving off the road to try and stop it. The issue is worst at lower RPM!
Multiple GM vehicles have an error with the traction control system that they cannot diagnose and continuously dismiss to cover their mistakes. Many makes and models report warnings to Service Stabilitrak and Service Breaks along with numerous other warnings. After the warning, drivers are experiencing power failure, locking steering wheels, wrecks, exponential costs for investigations, and temporary fixes. GM will not release any information on investigations into this matter. GM Technicians can not adequately diagnose the issue and will say there is a grounding problem, Traction Control module needs to be reset, replace the battery, and many other bogus repairs to temporarily fix the problem. How many people will have to experience these mechanical errors that can cause serious wrecks or fatalities before NHTSA or GM will investigate? All GM owners should be absolutely disappointed and disgusted with the response from the safety measures put in place to "protect us."

At low speed the power brakes no longer work. The brake pedal has to be pushed to the floor in order to stop. The pedal does not return to its original position and remains soft/spongy and pushed in. Almost caused an accident when this was first discovered.
My 2014 chevy silverado when backing down boat ramp break pedal will go all the way to the floor. I almost lost my whole truck an boat. This just started. I have little over 33 thousand miles on truck.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brakes failed to engage properly when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and repaired under the unknown recall however, the failure occurred 4 months later. The vehicle was then taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with the brake assist pump needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.
Vehicle starts to shake when driven above 70mph. If brakes are applied to reduce speeds from 75-70 the shaking significantly increases, but decreases to the normal shaking once the brakes are released.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, the brake pedal was depressed however, the braking distance was extended. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,507.
When I try to use my brakes they feel like there's no pressure and I have to pump brakes repeatedly to stop. Also feel a little vibration. This does happen every time. Mostly when I'm trying to slow down to park it or stop at a light.
My vehicle VIN does not seem listed for recall GM no. N192268490 or was serviced. Yet, I continue to experience intermittent loss of braking power, especially at slow speeds such as after shifting from drive to reverse for parking, or backing out of a parking space. Much more pressure is required to stop as if loss of power resulting in manual-only braking. This seems to go away when the vehicle is shut off and restarted. Prior to recall, the issue previously resulted in $3000 damage to another family vehicle parked on our private property.
While driving, the "service trailer brakes system" kept coming on. There was a visual and audio warning chime that would not stop. Instead of a single notification to the driver, the intermittent connection would result in the error message continuously re-appearing and chiming. This was extremely distracting and could increase risk of crash. I removed the brake gain controller from the dash and found corrosion on an electrical contact strip. After cleaning it with electronics cleaner, the error message went away.
Service trailer brake system indicator.if vehicle exoeriences this condition and stalls while in motion, there could be an increased risk of a vehicle crash.
Brakes become hard at low speed and when vehicle is at a complete stop. Brakes work normally at higher RPM, gets worse driving in reverse or just letting vehicle creep forward.
The vacuum pump failed resulting in loss of braking assistance. Mushy and hard peddle. Very noticeable at low speeds. Mine went out while exiting the highway at highway speeds. Causing excessive speed on the off ramp and inability to safely brake. Appears to have been a recall for my year vehicle. After calling the dealer I was told M VIN was excluded from the recall.
Brake power failure, where as the brake became stiff and it was hard to bring the truck to a complete stop. The truck was moving less then 10mph and had a utility trailer on the hitch. The truck was on residential road. This happened twice more for a total of three failures under similar circumstances. Moving under 10 mph on surface streets and having a camper trailer on the hitch of the truck.
The electrical issue is sometimes the truck will just stop basically there won't be any power whatsoever, everything just shuts down and will not start, we were on tiny town road when it happened and on fort campbell blvd, we had to have someone come with jumper cables and help me start the truck it has done that at least 3 times. When we took it in they said they could T find anything. Also since I got it I have had nothing but issues. The brakes and rotors have been replaced on this vehicle at least 4 to 5 times, when we would take it on the interstate it would shake when we would put the brakes on and so we took it in more than once to fix it. Also there is something to do with the theft deterrent system as well. It just seems there is always an issue and I'm so tired of this truck.
