The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While the contact's son was driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle lost power and vibrated. In addition, the stabilitrak warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to jim browne Chevrolet (located 11300 N Florida ave, tampa, fl 33612) where the transfer case shift control module and the instrument panel cluster were reprogrammed; however, the failure recurred. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17V414000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that a remedy part was not available for the repair. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

When this happens the lights in dash will flicker and radio will kick off and it says ser service stabilitytrac and it will jerk the steering wheel out of your hand and the truck will quit. The dealer put new body contro modgel but did not help it.after truck quits it takes it awhile and then it does it again this could happen anytime.I put new alternater on it but did not help because U can watch voltage gage drop.

Took my truck in Oct. 2016 to have it repaired for steering wheel shuddering and having to fight it on turns. And the truck just shutting down. Told it was an electrical problem. Well 9 months later doing the same thing. After the Chevrolet dealer supposedly fixed it. I think it is a problem when you lose control of steering and your truck just stops on turns. My truck was in motion on a city street.

This problem has happened several different times. The first time was in May 2017. As I was driving home, I kept getting a "service stabilitrac" message. About 2 minutes after the last message I was slowing down to turn and my truck completely lost all power. It went completely dark. The steering wheel ripped out of my hands and I nearly crashed head on into oncoming traffic. With all my strength I turned the wheel enough to avoid a head on collision. After I coasted to a stop, I turned the key off, then restarted it and drove home. I took it to a dealer and they told me they couldn't find a problem. For the last 3 months it hasn't happened again until yesterday. All kinds of electrical problems. Losing power, stabilitrac messages, diminished steering, loss of power brakes. I pulled into my driveway yesterday and lost all power, my door locks went up and down like three times, ac surges, radio went on and off a few times. I looked up the problem online and found that this isame problem is happening to a lot of 2014 1500 Silverado. This should definitely be a recall issue. Total loss of power while driving. Someone is going to die from this issue. Today when I was driving home I was going about 30 mph in traffic and my truck lost all power again, total blackout of all electronics, no steering or brakes, but thankfully all systems turned back on in a matter of seconds and I made it home. After looking online, it seems that someone has located the source. It is a fault at the "G218" ground point which is located under the front left dash speaker. (see youtube video, search 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 stabilitrac problem). Seriously, how is this not a recall, total loss of power while driving.

After research on the internet I am able to see strong similarities in what everyone is calling the G218 ground issue. My vehicle's power assisted steering will go out in a slow turn. This almost resulted in a fire hydrant collision last night. The vehicles computer says to service the stabilitrak system. It also will come up with other errors either concerning the steering column or the power steering system. The steering wheel will jerk out of your hands almost as if the vehicle is steering itself against the turn. On two occasions the vehicle died and would not start until resting for a bit, once for ten minutes in a busy intersection. GM needs to address this issue very soon. This seems to be a common flaw from the factory. I would seriously hate to hear this happening to a mother with a vehicle full of children...updated 06/14/17 updated 06/30/2017

I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado pick up truck. I have been extremely pleased with this truck until yesterday!!!! at 22,000 miles the truck malfunctioned twice within a short distance. The truck some what stalled with out warning and all the dash lights went crazy and truck lost power. Less than a half mile later while turning left in a cul de sac the truck went crazy, stalled, dash lit up, the steering wheel violently turned to the right as I was attempting to turn left. Immediately took it into service. 4 days past warranty expiration. Chevy/jessup auto grp won't fix it. Kevin in service said he would call me on wed at 4 with update. Thurs at 11am still no word. Dropped by service dept. For update with kevin. He said they didn't have price ready for repair. Denied coverage under recently expired warranty. When I showed him a list of serious computer malfunctions and safety issues from online Chevy truck owners he told me he wasn't interested and he had other people to tend to. He also said I dropped by without an appointment. In other words, I no longer was a priority. When asked for service dept general mgr. ---oh-he is not available. So now my low mileage truck sits with no repair, appears to be a hazard to drive, GM not standing behind nor has a fix for the computer malfunctions that has been reported widespread on carcomplaints.com, leaves me with a very expensive paper weight that I am fearful to drive. It's another ignition key GM cover up and until enough people die and the feds get involved -- it appears I am driving a truck that is a danger to the road and jessup could care less !!

Event #1: stopped at stoplight on city street to turn left; light changes; tuned steering wheel rapidly to the left & accelerated; crossing in front of traffic, the steering wheel jerked violently to the right out of my hands 3 times till I braked the vehicle to a stop & sat still for 5 seconds; could then steer & drive normally. Event # 2: very next day; backing slowly out of driveway; stopped on street; turned steering wheel slowly to left to proceed down street; steering wheel jerks violently to the right; after braking & sitting for 5 seconds with the engine idling again, was able to proceed. Event # 3: 15 minutes after event #2; again backing slowly to the left to turn around, & then turning the steering wheel to the right to proceed forward, steering wheel jerks violently to the left out of my hands. Again after braking to a stop & sitting at idle for 5 seconds was able to proceed. During all 3 events, the screen displayed "service stabilitrak". this issue "steering wheel jerked violently out of my hands" & "steering locks up (video included) when turning" is frequently discussed on GM forums by owners. One owner appears to have solved it by fixing a poor electrical ground under the dash.

While driving with cruise control engaged and a signal light is used, cruise is disengaged or if the windows are rolled up or down then cruise will be disengaged. This action will also cause the instrument cluster to dim when the signal is used or windows rolled up or down. If I turn the vehicle off and restart the vehicle it will clear up and may go another hour before it does it again. This is getting progressively worse and sometimes flashes a warning in the drivers information center, stabilitrak disabled and steering assist disabled drive with caution. Again if I turn the vehicle off and restart it it will work just fine for a while. This does seem to happen more when I have driven the vehicle for at least one hour. This started happening approx 6 months ago with cruise being disengaged and the dash lights dimming while using the signal lights or the window switch. The stabilitrak and steering warnings started 03/19/2017. On 03/20/2017 I had driven the vehicle about 2 miles and was pulling into a parking spot at a low speed when the steering wheel was ripped from my hands. The last incident was on April 8th while pulling a trailer with the tow haul mode engaged. I was attempting to pass a vehicle and kicked the vehicle into passing gear when the stabilitrak and steering warning both came on.

Was driving to the dentist. Pulled up to a stop light and "stabilitrack failure" poped up. Was pulling into the doctors office not 8 min L8R came up again but this time steering wheel locked up then un locked then locked up multiple times while I was trying to pull into a parking space. Thankfully I was going at an extremely low speed and I could control the vehicle between it locking and unlocking. When I left the doctors office I noticed my settings reset. Ex dashboard display showed the radio station instead of the fuel economy. I simply changed it and noticed the computer erased my previous fuel economy. I'm assuming theirs some malfunction between the computer and these systems. And from the looks of it my vehicle isn't the only vehicle with this issue.dealer supposedly fixed but I`M to scare to drive it I don`T` feel safe when it`S stalls in the middle of driving

The issue has occurred on two separate occasions. On both occasions the vehicle was in drive and moving. The vehicles steering capabilities malfunctioned and complete loss of steering occurred. After researching online, there were other owners of the same vehicle experiencing steering failure as well. There is video evidence on youtube to prove that this is a serious issue that needs to be corrected immediately. See "2014 Chevy Silverado stabilitrak issues part 4" on youtube to see what exactly is occurring.

Vehicle completely shut off when coming to a stop. Loss of steering power, etc. After restarting vehicle and after about 10 miles, the error popped up stating that the theft deterrent system had kicked in and the vehicle steering jerked me into another lane on interstate 485 at roughly 70 miles per hour.. two days later vehicle would not start, but after getting out of the vehicle and re locking and unlocking the door several times, the vehicle started. Today again the vehicle would not start. System stated that the battery was low and that the theft deterrent system was now engaged. Had to jump the vehicle off to get it started again. Had battery checked and it checked out completely fine. It is my feeling that there seems to be an issues with the electrical or a ground somewhere. After reviewing this issue online, there seems to be several other vehicles out there with the same issue. Very dangerous for the steering to completely take over at 70 miles per hour.

I purchased this 2014 Silverado pick up new. At about 20000 miles it began not starting, stopping while driving. When this happens the steering wheel is jerked out of my hands/ most of the recorded information is erased, the intrusion alarm icon is lit and must be cancelled. This has not happened at highway speed yet. I have been to several GM dealers. Complained to GM directly several times. I have many emails from me to GM and from GM to me. My local dealer has now refused to work on my vehicle. They put a computer on it and if there is no fault code they say "iif there isn't a code we wouldn't know where to start" (a direct quote) the vehicle now has 80000 miles and I have had to deal with this problem for some 60000 miles my wife and I both have cancer and must travel 233 miles one way for chemo and treatment every 28 days and I need a reliable vehicle. This truck was purchased to meet that need but has failed to live up to the hype from GM and the customer support is not satisfactory I need some help now.

After driving the truck for an hour and half I pulled into a parking lot, as I was turning to go down an aisle to park the truck interior lighting on the dash dimmed and the power steering died enough to jerk the steering wheel back and forth while turning. This almost caused me to hit another vehicle since I had no steering. I let the truck sit for a minute and then drove to an empty section of the parking lot and done a few slow figure eights seeing if the issue would happen again. After nothing happened I proceeded back to the parking area and again as I was pulling into a parking space the truck seemed to be losing power and the steering wheel was jerking out of my had uncontrollably to the point I could no longer steer the truck. The screen on the dash said it was caused by traction control but the ground was dry and paved. I again let the truck sit for a minute and was then able to park. After shopping I was able to drive to another stop and then home without any issues. When I was backing down my driveway an error message came up on the screen saying the backup safety devices were unavailable and the light on the dash started dimming again. The steering did not act up during backup mode. The dealer said there was a service bulletin out about the issue related to low voltage codes which they said my truck showed. They said the battery tested fine and Chevrolet would not let them replace anything since they could not reproduce the issues. They did say they were replacing the negative battery cable though but would not say why they were replacing it.

Intermittently the steering wheel will yank from the driver's hands and warning errors for stabilitrak or traction control reported in center info screen, while the mylink screen goes blank. This typically occurs while maneuvering at low speeds in parking situations. The issue appears to be involving the vehicle's electronic steering assist and stability control systems. This is a major safety concern.

Since 05/02/2016 I have been dealing with crazy electrical problems. It started with head lights dimming at random times. Then driving down the road at 55mph with cruise control on, activite turn signal. When turn signal is activated the cruise control would cut off. Simulated 4 times to ensure there was a problem. Continued driving. At 30 mph the air conditioning turned off, all dashboard lights & radio turned off but engine stayed running, 45 seconds later everything turned back on. At this time the wife freaked out & asked to park, scared for her safety & my own. Pulled forward to parallel park, went to put the vehicle in reverse. Before reverse was initiated the truck threw multiple warning lights (service stablitrak, assisted steering, etc). The dashboard lit up like a christmas tree. The steering wheel violently jerked & locked up. Then the engine cut off. Put the truck in park, turned key & started right back up with no warning lights, no low voltage indication and no problems. GMC dealership could not replicate the problem & returned the vehicle to me within 2 days. This happened again on 07/05/2016. This time it was sent to Chevrolet. They reprogrammed the steering wheel position sensor & checked the security of the wire harness. 07/11/2016 the vehicle locked up & shut off again in a starbucks drive through. This time locking myself & my family in the truck for 3 minutes. When ignition was turned, truck would not start, no lights would come on either. The truck acted dead. This time Chevrolet replaced gas pedal. 10/31/16 the truck shutoff & locked up again. This time I took video to prove my case in hopes it would help the dealership. They tested battery and cables. 12/19/2016 it happened again & also smelt burning. Chevy replaced alternator cable & negative battery cable. Could not smell burning. 01/10/17. Engine fire caused by alternator and battery cable

While pulling out of a parking spot, I went to turn right. As turning to the right the service stabilitrak warning appeared on my dash and the steering wheel locked itself and fought against me turning right. The truck was trying to straighten the wheel out against my force of turning. I shut the truck off and restarted it and the problem was gone. Then a few week later while driving my dash and radio screens kept flickering on and off, everytime making a loud click sound. When I got the truck parked, I tried to turn the wheel and it fought against me trying to turn it. The dash read service stabilitrak and assisted power steering is disabled. The radio lost its memory and the truck shut down. A third time it happened while parallel parking, backing up and turning the wheel right, it locked and forced itself back left. Everytime it happens it is moving slow or just had finished moving.

This truck had a steering failure causing a collision and it was a minor front collision. The worse part is Chevrolet denies a problem but the internet is full of complaints. During the collision on the front strangely the curtain airbags is all that deployed leaving driver completely unprotected!!! the steering came back on after. Then I get a notice that the airbag control module is recalled because it may not work or deploy bags wrongfully. That's what happened. The truck has 24000 miles on it and the steering failed in the rain making me swing out almost striking a school bus full of small children. I had it towed to a Chevy dealer after having and photographing with a time stamp 6 codes for a module failure. The Chevy dealer calls and lies to me and did there are no codes or voltage to the motor and it may be a wire from the accident I told them about. The accident was minor and only required minor repair and a bumper. I think General Motors needs a investigation into this and owe me curtain air bags and headliner. This company is irresponsible and defiant in defective moisture sensitive due to lack of sealing according to hundreds and hundreds of internet postings. I owe $34,000 on this junk unsafe product and complained and only get jerked around. Abc news has contacted me back for a story as soon as I here back from you.
