When turning at low speeds the truck shuts off and the steering locks with no control of the vehicle. At other times the steering wheel turns side to side wildly with no driver input. I am aware of the recall for this issue and have had the truck at a dealership twice but the issue keeps coming back. My truck has 42000 miles and is well taken care of but it is very unsafe to drive, please help as I know this is not an isolated issue, thanks.

When turning into parking lot today at low speed, electrical system went crazy, screen flashed power steering failure, stabilitrac failure, doors locked and unlocked and engine died. Restarted and was fine driving forward and repeated failures again when turning to park in parking space. It is fortunate this was in a parking lot and not on interstate or other main road or while turning at a traffic light. There was a recall in fall of 2017 for power steering that was repaired at dealership upon notification. When I contacted the dealership, the service department supervisor advised it sounded as if there was a poor connection of a battery cable. The battery was replaced just a few months ago. It seems to me that if a it's a battery cable connection issue, then GM has another safety problem they need to address since I've read numerous other complaints with the exact same issues, and in my opinion, there must be a manufacturer defect if battery cables just come loose for no apparent reason. This needs to be fixed before someone is very seriously injured or killed as a result of this dangerous condition. GM seems to be aware of the other reported issues and has taken no measures to correct it. Maybe all of us who own their vehicles should file a class action lawsuit and they might get off their [xxx] and do something! I certainly won't hesitate to file a civil complaint for product liability if a family member is hurt as a result of their continued negligence. While driving down the road and turning the steering wheel, the steering wheel snatches away from your hand. When doing so, the locks unlock and lock, then the stabilitrack light comes on. This has happened several times and twice the vehicle completely shut off. Luckily my wife was turning into the driveway when it did because it shut off and the steering wheel locked. She is scared to death to drive this vehicle and I owe way too much money to trade it in. I've taken it to my dealership here and they tried reprogramming it due to a recall but that did not fix it. When I called to ask for assistance, they replied that it would be a minimum of 1 1/2 hour labor to diagnose it and that it $110 an hour. I've noticed while looking on the internet that this is a common problem with the year model truck. This is a major safety factor and needs to be addressed asap before something happens to one of my family members. People on the internet state that it is a grounding problem and the manufacturer knows about the problem.

Steer assist and stabilitrak errorr messages. Says to service. My A/C unit is also affected by this. It appears that it may have been part of the recall #17276 but according to the dealer our VIN did not pull it up. The vehicle pulls and steering becomes difficult. A/C unit blows out hot air. When in cruise control sometimes the vehicle accelerates on its own and the rpms shoot up. Have to break and decrease speed for problem to be resolved before resetting cruise control.

My vehicle has completely lost power steering and power twice while in the middle of driving on busy roads. Once by myself and the second with my four grandchildren in the car. I have taken it to the dealership after first incident paid 300 dollars for them to look at it and they told me couldn't find anything wrong. Then it happend again the second time in a busy intersection with my four young grandchildren in the car. There was a recall in 2017 for the same problem for this year vehicle but they are claiming mine isn't under that recall and refusing to fix it. Both times it has happend the power steering completely goes out and the truck power shuts down and locks up anything connected to the truck. ( for example my phone was charging and it locked up my phone after it did this) I am concerned about my safety while driving this vehicle and cannot get the Chevy(General Motors) dealership to help me. They are claiming not to have known about the recall in 2017 at all. I've only had this truck for about a year and it has done this to me now 2 times in the last couple of months. Both times in very busy areas where my truck stalls and looses power steering.

My 2014 Chevrolet Silverado is at a GM dealership for the 4th time due to complete electrical and engine shutdown while driving. The issue started during low speed sharp turns but now is happening while driving the vehicle straight. Complete loss of use occurs and the vehicle will not come back on for 10 minutes after the occurrence. Power steering recall has not resolved it, ground wire tightening has not resolved and main battery cable replacement has not resolved. Dealership response is they don't know what the issue is caused from. I am very concerned this complete loss of power while driving will cause a severe collision and no recall or resolution has been created by GM.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 25 mph, the steering ability became more difficult and the 'stability track" message flashed. The contact stopped in a parking lot and turned off the vehicle. After approximately two hours, the vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The dealer was not contacted and the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

Failure of steering, stabilitrac, stereo. When you try to steer, the steering wheel would jerk in the opposite direction, the dash lights would flicker, the head lights flicker, the radio would make a shorting sound, and the service stabilitrac would display. An online search found several threads on this problem. It has the possibility of killing someone. GM has issued a service bulletin (pit5405A) related to this problem, yet they have not issued a recall" the most common solution appears to be some rubber insulation pinched under a ground lug under the dash so it's not maintenance related. Yet, they are charging owners to fix it"

The stabilitytrack will flash on and make the steering wheel very difficult to steer or while turning the steering wheel will jerk out of my hand and not let me maneuver the way I want to. At the same time the truck will briefly lose all power disabling everything. This has happened in parking lots as well as everyday city and highway driving and at all speeds from as slow as 5mph to as fast as 70mph. There has 2 times after this happens that I turn the truck off to try to restart it, the truck will be completely dead. Not even the hazard lights will come on. There are other times where I will lose all power to my radio and driver info center and it stays black until I restart the truck a few times. I have taken it to the dealership now 4 separate times now and every time they say its something new. I have paid a little over $800 so far and it is still happening. I am now waiting to hear back from GM/Chevy to see what they can do, but looking at what I have already dealt with it I am not optimistic. I have read other complaints about this and I am afraid that its only a matter of time that I will not be able to recover my steering and I will get in an accident with my family in the truck.

Truck dash will flicker and cause stabletrak to disable, and then steering assist says limited. Radio will change stations when this happens, and the steering wheel will lock up and is unable to be turned. Has happened several times while we're on the highway. It's when we're in motion, has happened while trying to park, going on a back road, and on the highway. While in park, we can hear occasional clicking coming from inside the dash. It's been occurring since October, but was really bad on December 22nd. Have a video of one of the occurrences, but not sure how to upload it.

While on the highway a stabilitrack warning appeared on the dash stating it might affect power steering assist. This came on several times. Then with the cruise control on and signaling a lane change the cruise was cancelled. This also occurred several times. It also appeared that the dash lights flickered, but I wasn't sure because of the sunlight. Later that evening I was making a turn on a city street when the dash lights went completely out and I had no power steering. This lasted about 2 seconds before everything came back on. After that episode it hasn't happened since. After reading other similar complaints I am concerned it could happen again and could result in a crash. It seems that when the cruise was cancelled when signaling the lane change, that if I pushed up or down on the turn signal lever at the end of the lever it would cancel the cruise control. I tried pushing down on the lever closer to the steering column and that didn't cancel out the cruise control. I don't know if it was just a coincidence or it just wasn't malfunctioning at the time.

While in motion and turning the truck loses power and steering and says stabilitrack needs service then the truck lost all power and could not be restarted. Had the truck jumped and while driving the ac went out and the stabilitrack warning came on and the steering became jerky and difficult. Once parked and shut off the truck will again not start.

While driving my 2014 Chevy Silverado around 42000 miles I stopped at a light on a highway and lost all electrical power and the service steering assist came on dash. I was able to restart the truck and go. It happened multiple times. While driving it around a bend on a highway the truck shut off I lost all steering the steering locked up and I almost crashed, the service assist light came on again. This happened multiple times when turning. On 4-13-17 I brought the truck to a Chevy dealer it was was still under warranty. They could not reproduce the problem. 8-24-17 I brought the truck in for a recall #17276 for reprogramming the power steering assist control modular. After the recall the truck started doing it more often the same day but the steering did not lock up but the truck shut off when I tried making a turn on a highway. The service steering assist light came on again. On 9-7-17 I brought the truck back to the Chevy dealer ( Chevy dealer now changed its name from oasis to quality ) complaining that the recall did not work. They said that the recall was not for that. But I believe it is the same problem. They Chevy dealer drove the truck for 10 miles and it happened to them.they charged me for the time to trouble shoot the problem and found a loose ground wire #G218 under the dash causing the problem. I have driving the truck for 2 days now and it seems fine. The issue is that they made me pay for something they should have fixed the first time and I believe that this should have been part of recall # 17276, because I believe part of recall #17276 had to do with low voltage to the steering modular. A loose ground will give you low voltage. Any way this is very dangerous and I have read online of others having the same problem. Please make a recall about this loose ground wire that makes the truck shut off and lose steering before someone dies. Thank you

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of power. Also, the ABS and stabilitrak warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Eddy's Chevrolet Cadillac (8801 E kellogg dr, wichita, ks) diagnosed that the battery was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact received notification of the vehicle being involved in a tsb. The vehicle was taken to davis-moore Chevrolet (8200 w kellogg dr, wichita, ks) where a software update was performed; however, the failure recurred on six occasions. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 54,000.
