Windshield wiper failure, wipers have failed many times over the 3 years that we have owned this truck. We have went to several mechanics for help and no solutions have worked. An auto tech. Instructor told my son that the S10 has a weak system and that new ends could not be ordered for connections. Several people who have S10's have told me that they have the same problem. This my teenage sons truck and I fill that chevorlet should recall and fix the problem.
Last year the wipers started to not work properly, it would speed up, slow down, not work, not shut off, now it is worse. Quite hazardous during rain, not repaired yet, called local dealer advised no recall for that year. There is a recall for 1997 model year with same problem
When driving, the front windshield wipers worked intermittently. Wipers worked on high speed but if put in low sometimes they work and sometimes they do not. The consumer stated that if he touches the circuit board wipers come on.

My wipers quit whenever they feel like it, especially in a pouring rain, or they will not come on at all! there is also a problem with them not going off when turned off. I hit a deer because the wipers would not turn off after using the window washer to clean my window in my garage. After many attempts to turn them off, I proceeded to drive the 20 miles to my job site. On the way, I hit a deer. It could have been much worse, the oncoming pickup could have been what I hit. Please, this is a very dangerous situation! after reading 21 pages of complaints about the same thing, I would think that someone would take this as a serious subject.
The windshield wipers on my 1998 Chevy S10 do not work properly. They wil not turn on, turn off, or return to their full off position consistently. On the mist setting they don't stop after a few swipes nor do they work consistently on the intermittent setting.
Windshield wipers have occasionally stopped working while driving in the rain. I recieved a bulletin from Chevrolet stating that some vehicles were being recalled because of this problem. I took my S10 pickup to a dealership for the repairs and they refused because my truck is a 1998 model and they said the recall was for 1997 models. Someone I spoke with said that cleaning the contacts on the curcuit board would remedy this situation. I did this and it seemed to take care of the problem. However it happened again recently. I read that the nthsa had been looking into this matter, but I cant find any information.
Windshield wipers quit in the middle of a storm or sometimes don't work at all. I just found out about this site or I would have submitted my complaint two years ago.
Windshield wiper motor work intermittently. It sometimes will not work at all, sometimes will stop in mid-cycle, sometimes will cycle repeatedly when using the mist feature. GM has admitted this exact same problem with 96 and 97 S-10's but saying there is no problem with 98 and newer. After a very lengthy discussion with a customer service rep. At GM, they decided to give me 50% credit if I take my truck to a GM dealer and have it properly diagnosed and repaired there, but why should I have to pay at all for a defect in their product!!!!! this problem has been ongoing since I bought the truck in 01/04, makes me think twice about buying another GM product.
Wiper pulse board interruption, failure. No replacement has been found. This problem is consistent with the current recall of 1994-1997 Chevrolet S 10 pickups, but occurs in later model years, particularly 1998.
Windshield wiper malfunction. The wipers fail most of the time. When they do work, they run erractically. I use rain-X on the windshield for increased visibility.
Windshield wiper failed, this is an ongoing problem. They do work sometimes but mostly they do not. This was a recall item for my other car but not for this truck. I think it should
When windshield wipers are engaged they will go from the speed setting into the highest speed setting by themselves, then quit working. Also, when the windshield wipers are turned off they stay in their current location.
The front windshield wipers failed. The consumer managed to pull over to temporally fix the problem. The mechanic tried to repair the problem twice, however the problem was resolved the problem.
Windshield wipers work intermittently. When on delay will sometimes work, but mostly go at low speed regardless of selection. 20% of the time wipers will not turn on at all. When turned off wipers continue until they feel like stopping and then stop half way down the windshield. When using the mist, wipers continue to run from 6 to 20 sweeps, and sometimes donT go all the way down.
Windshield wipers intermittently failed to operate during inclement weather. Dealer replaced the windshield wiper control module. The wiper control module developed cracks. The consumers concern is that the same control module was used in the 1998 vehicle but the recall stopped at the 1997 model/year and the recall should include all model years that develop this problem.
