This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
When brakes were applied, would be standing on brakes & vehicle failed to stop. Problem was intermittent.have not taken vehicle to dealer. Husband a certified mechanic & was not repairing the ABS brakes.
Consumer received recall 99V193000 in may, and has contacted dealer on several occasions. But, dealer claimed parts were on backorder, and did not know when parts will arrive.
Anti-lock brake problems; when applying the brakes in some conditions, the brakes have failed to take hold. Vehicle continued to travel an extended amount of time( 40 feet) before the brakes took hold. This happened on a solid surface. General Motors has been contacted about this problem. Owner was informed that this vehicle was not included in recall, and would not be serviced free of charge.
Intermittently when brakes were applied brake pedal went to the floor, resulting in extended stopping distance. Consumer has replaced the braking system. A recall has been issued on the vehicle's make/model. However, this vehicle was not included due to VIN.

Recall 99V193000/ABS: Brake pedal went to the floor, causing vehicle to continue on before it came to a stop. Vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop on two occasions, and nothing could be found. Dealer/manufacturer were not notified at this time.
I have had a problem with the ABS since I got the vehicle, however, I was unfamiliar with ABS and thought the problem was normal. When I brake, if I hit a bump, the brakes lock up, and I continue to slide. This has happened on many occasions, on dry and wet pavements and on snow and ice. I came very close (10-15 feet) to sliding into a busy intersection once when this brake problem occurred. I received a recall letter from the manufacturer and when I attempted to have the problem fixed, was told that my particular vehicle was not covered under the recall because it was manufactured at a different plant. I have wasted a lunch hour and a lot of time on the phone trying to get satisfaction from GMC, to no avail, besides putting my life and other's lives on the line whenever I drive. As for the driver's seat problem, this developed about 2 years ago. The lever on the side of the seat which lays the back down and brings it up came off, stripped (it was plastic). Now I have no way to adjust my seatback, and every once in a while, it slips back on it's own and I cannot control it. I am sure that one of these days I'll be driving along and my seatback will just fall down. The glove box door broke off the dash. If I have an accident, it will become a missile inside the cab. Both the seat and the glove box door are not covered under my warranty from the manufacturer which is known as a "universal" warranty, and which I paid an additional $1300 to obtain, just for problems such as these.
Vehicle experienced rear wheel lock up while applying brakes at 30 mph. This caused vehicle to rear end another vehicle in front. Dealer/manufactureer were not contacted at this time.
When consumer is driving 80 kph- 100kph anti-lock brake light comes on. When she applies brake pedal, pedal becomes hard and will not move. Consumer uses the emergency brake to stop vehicle. Took vehicle into mechanic for repair, replaced both wheel sensors, and the problem has not reoccured since.
While traveling 35 mph & making a sudden stop vehicle continued to travel as a result of an accident. Dealer has been notified before hand of a recall notice for ABS brake problems. Dealership would not repair vehicle under recall. Please provide further informaton.
I was in an accident 2/99 due to brake failure with my 95 S-10. My first chargable accident in 19 years. At the time of my accident I told the insurance co. My brakes failed. Now I have received notice that my brakes have been recalled. Is there anyway possible that I could have the insurance company.
