The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving 55 mph, she heard a buzzing noise coming from the front of the vehicle near the hazard switch. Approximately 15 minutes later she was unable to activate the turn signal. There is a recall for the exterior lighting: Hazard flashing warning lights: Switch (NHTSA campaign id # 03V327000) however; the manufacturer stated that her VIN was not included as part of the recall. The failure and current mileages were 131,000.
Turn signals were working intermittently. Bought from Chevy dealership. Repaired at private shop. Cost to repair: $125 to replace hazard switch. Bandaid solution: Bang the dash until the signal worked.
The right and left signal turn lights fail to operate at intermittent times. I was nearly involved in several rear end crashes because of the problem. I have to push the emergency flasher button to operate the turn signals.
