Rotors replaced 3 times in one year, worn down. When applying brakes they pulsate, and there is increased braking distance. Also tie rod had to be replaced.
When pressing brakes brakes pedal has gone to floor before vehicle will slow down. Brakes were replaced in 1999/ 2000, and 2001. Approximately every 15000 miles the brakes and rotors had been changed.
My air bag light stays on. I called the dealer and the guy said it meant the air bags didn't work and they wouldn't come out even in a crash and since the warranty was gone I would have to pay to have it fixed. My floor board floods when it rains. There has been about an inch of water in my floor at one time and has flooded everytime it rains. I was told that too would have to be paid for out of my pocket. My anti-lock system messed up while it was still under warranty and was fixed but I had to replace the pads in November after only buying the car in April. It's March and I need new brakes again. The car was in the shop in the summer because it went dead while going down the interstate and had to be towed in. It was still under warranty so they fixed it at no charge. It seems to me that since this car doesn't even have 50,000 miles on it that it shouldn't be falling apart like it is.

Vehicle experienced excessive brake component failures and the ABS light illuminates intermittently, the brake rotors warped causing pulsation and have been replaced 4 times, the brake pads have been replaced twice due to grinding noise. Nlm
When depressing brakes noticed vehicle shaking. Dealer stated rotors needed to be replaced. Front rotors and pads were warped and scored. ABS light illuminated.
ABS light and regular brake light will come on intermittently, usually at same time. But, only lasts for short period of time. Dealer has attempted to fix defect 6 times, but defect keeps reoccurring.
ABS brake light keeps coming on while driving.E ABS system would lock up when ever brakes are applied. Have taken to dealership, and mechanic could not resolve problem after seven times at shop.
We have been having problems with the brakes on this car from the time we bought it. The right front brakes pull and shake when you apply them. The vehicle has been serviced several times for the same problem by Chevrolet and it still occurrs. Everyone else we have talked to that also owns a Chevrolet Malibu has the same problem. I am concerned not only for my safety and the safety of others around me, but also that this car will cost me a fortune once the warranty expires. This is obviously (to me and the people I have talked to) a manufacturers defect. Please investigate accordingly. Thank you for your time. Mary "carolyn" kling.
ABS light came on. I called dealership and was told that it was ok that it happened, and to make an appointment with my local Chevy dealership for fixing. (dealership I purchased car from is not a Chevy dealer). When I phoned trecek chev. In portage I made an appointment for the following wed. (all this was done from car phone). I also asked trecek auto in portage about the light, they said it was nothing to be concerned about. As I was driving I was all over the road. I was only going about 20 mph. My brake light would not go off but they told me that it wasn't something to be concerned about. As the driving conditions got worse I slowed up even more and pulled over to the side of the road then continued on. When the rear end of the car swerved and I almost lost control at 20 mph I then pulled over and called for a tow truck. A lady was following me and stopped. She then told me that my back rear passenger tire/wheel was not turning. When the wrecker came to tow me the wheel still was not turning. When it was unloaded off the flat bed at trecek chev. In portage, wi it still was not turning although the ABS light had gone off. I then proceeded to speak with the service manager who in turn went out to my car and drove it to the front door and told me that I could take it home, there was nothing wrong with it. He was not very polite and did not even look at the car. I need to know what I can do. I'm afraid that this will happen again.
Consumer had brakes/ pads and shoes, and rotors replaced 4 times since purchase of vehicle. At this time brake need to be replaced again. Dealer has been no help at all.
The brakes only failed once, however I have had it in atleast 6 times since lease for complaints on the brakes to two different dealerships. I was told by one that the Malibu's are having problems with the brake pads, why has no one been told this? my ABS is agin coming on and now getting ready for it's 7th trip to service.
While driving the ABS/brake light comes on intermittently. Had looked at said nothing wrong. Had accident because brakes would not work properly. Have to push brake pedal almost all way down to get car to stop. Do not get pulsating feeling on brake when hit hard indicating ABS is working. Having it looked at again, now that car has been wrecked they seem to be more interested.
The brakes have been resurfaced once. The pads have been replaced 3 times and the rotors replaced twice. I have had the car in for the final repair attempt on the brakes. They say there is nothing wrong with them. While the car was in the shop for this, the driver's power window went out. Three people in the service dept. Tried to get it to work. I had to leave the car another day. When I went to pick it up, I was told there was nothing wrong with the window and it is now working. The power locks lock and unlock themselves periodically. I hear air coming in the driver's door. The cd player face gets to hot to touch and I smell burning. I was told this was normal. The steering column wouldn't tilt down because of plastic debris on the assembly. The brake light circuit board melted. The air conditioner control head shorted out. The evap system vapor pressure sensor had to be replaced. The rear doors stuck and had to be lubricated. The glove compartment latch had to be adjusted to stop rattle. The transmission had to be replaced.
