Consumer's wife was in an accident because brakes locked up. The brake light never illuminated. She went to mobile on the computer, it shows that wheels were locked up. The brake system computer is still in locked - skid mode. The light illuminates after turning the key into on position.

All lights associated with the anti-lock break system come on shortly after starting vehicle.: service traction control, service anti-lock and traction control. I clearly lose the antilock brake feature. At times brakes make a funny noise and car loses braking for several feet at low speeds. Dealer says Chevy is aware and says they will deal with it after Y2K and for now to shut off the vehicle and start it again. This does not fix the problem for very long!

The ABS braking system malfunctioned, causing the ABS light to come on which indicates a problem with the braking system which causes extended stopping distance and may result in a crash.
When ever applying the brakes vehicle failed to stop, resulting in extended stopping distance. Also, brake pedal went all the way to floor, and vehicle slid. When brakes are applied there is extended stopping distance. Vehicle was checked by dealership at 5000. 10,000, and 15,000 miles for brakes, dealership said there was nothing unusual, it's just the way ABS works.
Rear brakes don't adjust. At 78,000 miles rear linings have only worn about 10%. had same problem with identical 1995 Lumina with 59,000 miles we owned in January 98. Both cars required high pedal effort. Dealer adjusted rear brakes and told us that parking brake must be used frequently to self adjust rear brakes. Car still requires higher pedal effort than other cars I have driven.
Three problems so far with cruise control, one failure of either voltage regualtor or alternator leaving owner stranded, switch on drivers side window replaced for window operation, brakes squeak and sometimes work properly
