My wipers stopped working, getting stuck all the way to the left side of the windshield while driving in the highway, in the middle of a rain storm. It was very difficult to try to get to the shoulder on the right hand side being that I was on the left lane. Thankfully, I was able to pull over safely.
Windshield wiper module failure. This appears to be a common problem where the wipers stop working. This may happen at a crucial time leaving the driver's vision distorted and blurred in traffic. Why haven't there been a recall in the us while they've been recalled in Canada! https://GM.oemdtc.com/6968/25300-03-safety-recall-front-wiper-transmission-corrosion-failure-Canada-only-2010-2017-Chevrolet-Equinox-GMC-terrain"fbclid=iwar2qnob4gjzlpdglg7tcyluetrzbqa79B9abtqy18xhnbx-6xaonk6nx_K0 please follow through on this, there are a lot of people with this issue! https://www.autonews.com/article/20181106/oem11/181109854/NHTSA-probes-1-7-million-GM-crossovers-for-windshield-wiper-failures"fbclid=iwar3ejegpo5ybu9sr7uqebpxlpf_boflwvys-atv9twlkb-ni1V9wbhw-9fc
Wiper failure. GM currently has a recall for the 2013 Equinox for this issue. Our 2015 Equinox has the same issue where the wipers failed at what may have been a critical time that clearly presents a danger. Https://static.NHTSA.gov/ODI/rcl/2016/rcsb-16V582-8151.pdf 0125

The car was parked (thank god) and when the wipers were turned on, they no longer worked. Just bought the car 9 days ago! 54K on it. I took it apart and found the wiper transmission had fallen apart!
The front window defroster does not blow any air, which causes the inside to fog over. Also the outside of the windshield freezes causing extreme visibility loss. The defroster does not work at all regardless if I am driving or parked. I reviewed may others with the exact same issue for many different year Equinox. There really needs to be a recall to correct this before an accident occurs causing death.
It was raining and my wipers were set on the automatic setting where they would work about every 20-30 seconds. They stopped working in mid wipe!! the mister is still functional because I can hear it but the wipers are not. I have been reading that this is a major issue with the model of vehicle and the part has been recalled in Canada. Why not here"??" I lost all visibility while driving down the road at night!!! I was scared to death and drove the car home.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the windshield wipers failed. While driving in the rain, the windshield wiper motor made a noise that sounded as if the motor was trying to engage the windshield wipers, bit never did. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 9-4970143711. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 125,000.
I was driving down the interstate (going 75mph) in moderate rain when suddenly our windshield wipers over extended and would no longer engage. We had to stop because we couldn't see. We had to make our way off the highway and to a repair shop to get them 'rigged' to get us back on the road.
On the evening of December 22nd, 2018 during heavy rain driving approximately 60mph on the freeway (South on I5 in everett, wa), the windshield wipers stopped functioning in mid stroke. With extremely poor visibility, we managed to pull the vehicle off the freeway we shut the vehicle off and restarted it hoping this would reset the wipers, but they continued to not function. The wiper motor can be heard functioning, however, the wiper arms fail to move. We will be taking it to our dealer for service, but suspect the bushings on the transmission have failed.
I was traveling on a highway in heavy rain when suddenly the passenger-side wiper started moving in the opposite direction as the driver-side wiper. It finally stopped dead and I only had the driver side wiper but the blade was badly damaged when they were hitting one another so I had very limited vision. I consider this to be an extremely hazardous situation.
During a snow storm in Virginia 12/09/2018 my windshield wipers suddenly and without warning stopped working. I had to drive remainder of the 2 hour drive home during a snow storm, at night in treacherous conditions with no windshield wipers. I had to have the dealership (tappahannock Chevrolet) replace the entire windshield wiper transmission assembly (with motor) simply because a plastic transmission arm lock (poorly designed plastic button/bushing broke. Total cost was $357.40 due to a lousy design!
Vehicle driving on freeway at 70 mph. Heavy rain going on with windshield wipers going on. Suddenly windshield wipers stopped and visibility was minimal. It was difficult to find the emergency shoulder of freeway. Very dangerous situation. Car had to be towed since it could not be driven in the rain
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 45 mph, the windshield wipers stopped operating while the contact was driving in the rain. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,000.
Last Saturday as I was driving on the tollway, my wipers just stopped working. It was pouring rain. Talk about being scared. I managed to get to the next exit and get off the tollway and pull over on a side street. I had a sweat shirt in the car and had to safely pull over at times every 3 blocks to clear the window. Sometimes the rain slowed and I could go a little further down side streets. I made it to a gas station with of course no mechanic and located the wiper fuse and switched the rear camera fuse with it (same w), but it still didn't work. I bought paper towels and again kept stopping to wipe the window. Really dangerous and scary. Miraculously, about half way to home from there it stopped raining and I was able to get home. Research shows this wiper problem is a recall in Canada. It should be here, too. It cost $595 to repair.
July 25, 2018 while driving on the highway in a heavy rainstorm front windshield wipers motor went out completely I had 0 visibility I was stranded on the highway for hours until the rain stopped. It was repaired the next day they stated water had gotten into the linkage and upper transmission box for the windshield wipers also material used to make the parts are not of good quality. November 15, 2018 now three months later during a major snow and ice storm the same exact problem only this time I was on a city street driving.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 70 mph, the windshield wipers turned completely off without warning. The vehicle was taken to walker Chevrolet (4130 1st ave, nitro, wv 25143) and the windshield wiper transmission was replaced. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 55,000.
