The windshield wipers failed. I took the car to a Chevy dealership who immediately identified the problem as arising from a key part in the wipers being made of plastic instead of the previously used metal and this wearing out. He said this was a common problem and that a recall was likely but that Chevy was dragging their feed. I understand they have issued the recall in Canada. The wipers failed without warning during a major rain storm, creating a very real safety hazard as I drove with young children in the car.

While driving during a rainstorm the wipers stopped working. Checked the fuses, but all fuses were good. The windshield wiper fluid was working but not the wipers themselves. After getting the vehicle back home took a look at the wiper assembly and one of the bushings broke off. Had to replace the bushing to get the wipers to work again.

I was on my way to work. It started to rain, so I turned on the wipers, and they swiped a few times and stuck in the upward left position and stopped. I was on a state highway, at the time, and found it extremely difficult to see to drive. The wipers have not worked since that day. Upon checking online, I've found that this is a very common problem and happens to others exactly the same way it happened with my wipers. There was a recall on the Canadian model for 2013, but have not found one for 2010 and there needs to be a recall on all of the wipers for this model. The arms on the transmission come apart and stops the wipers from working. No warning......they just stop. This is a safety hazard. And to add to the problem...... to repair it, the more appropriate option is to replace the transmission/motor assembly and that part is extremely expensive, around $300. This should be a recall by Chevy, as it is a safety hazard and can cause terrible accidents in the blinding rain. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

2010 Chevy Equinox ltz windshield failure! Wednesday night, May 2, 2018, I was driving home from the four winds casino, South bend, in, it was pouring down rain...when I got into mishawaka, in, my windshield wipers suddenly stopped and lodged to the left of the drivers side! I got out of the car, pushed the wipers back down in there proper place and I could hear the motor running! I got back into the car and turned on the wipers several times, they would not budge...I took the Equinox into basney Honda on Thursday, May 3, 2018 and they inspected the vehicle. They told me the windshield motor and transmission assembly needed to be replaced! I bought this SUV in March from basney Honda! I have only had the car a couple of months and problems already" this is very dangerous, plus, the cost of repair! total cost= $453.43. Also, my research shows many recalls on this same issue by GM! many complaints by consumers! why does this keep happening, and why has this not been addressed" no wonder no one wants to buy a Chevy! when I purchased my 2002 Toyota Camry Solara used in 2010, it was years before I had any repairs! never a windshield issue like this...never! I thought I had made a good choice buying this Chevy Equinox SUV, liking it a lot, but, now, I am looking to get another Toyota, Honda, Nissan or Mazda and trade this one in! I have called a certified Chevy dealer to have an inspection and diagnostic done on Thursday, May 10, 2018. After that, I will call the Chevy recall number for further assistance! this is a very dangerous safety hazard! I could not see! I could have had an accident and ran off the road, or worse yet, been killed or killed someone else! I hope I can get reimbursed the cost of this repair!

Same problem as with a 2006 Equinox the heater defroster goes cold warm and is not safe the 2006 had a recall and was brought to denooyer chev colonie NY for recall repair now the same problem with this 2010 Equinox ltz. This time the radio has no sound on left side weird. When I turn up the heat it starts a clicking sound and will not stop until it reaches a certain temperature then the heat will come on for 4-5 minutes and go cold and winter it at my doorstep shortly. This needs to be addressed by GM I will contact denooyer Chevrolet to see if they will repair it for free also read that a computer issue could cause this problem. I have issues with my windshield wipers having disconnected leaving my wipers to not be usable. This happened driving home from work in a downpour - almost getting into an accident. Also it happen with my husband and 2 small children in my car again in the rain. I fear for the safety of my family due to the wipers becoming inoperative at the time they are needed most. I have seen multiple Chevy Equinox (unsure of the year of these) that have had this happened, pulled over on the side of the road with their wipers stuck up on the windshield. I have also read many forums online about this. I seen a recall in Canada for the Equinox 2010-2017 but this isn't covered in the us as I have called the dealership about this.

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the defrost failed without warning. In November of 2016, the defrost failed intermittenly. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (john jones salem, 1450 in-60, salem, in, 47167, 812-883-3081) where it was diagnosed that the instrument panel software needed to be replaced, and that there was no recall at the time. Due to the repair cost, the vehicle was not repaired. In January of 2017, the contact received the notification for NHTSA campaign number: 09V489000 (visibilty). The same local dealer was contacted and scheduled an appointment. Upon arrival at the dealer, the contact was informed that even though there was a recall for the existing failure and a letter was receieved, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer stated that they were not sure why she received the recall letter, and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer would not assist and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

As we were driving on a city street in a torrential rain storm, my windshield wipers suddenly stopped working. I pulled over to a side road, turned the car off and back on, and they still did not work. I pushed the windshield wiper lever and they would not move. I was on vacation at the time and luckily found a Chevrolet dealership nearby. They diagnosed the condition almost immediately as corrosion to the front wiper transmission. The service advisor said it was easy to diagnose because they have seen this issue happen on many Chevrolet Equinox cars. He looked up recall information and this exact problem is currently recalled only on a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox (Chevrolet recall reference #25302). Since I have a 2010 Equinox, I had to pay for this repair out of pocket for $240.80. The dealership said I would have a good case trying to get reimbursed for this, since it is an exact problem he has seen many times and is currently on a recall for a different year Equinox. I just called Chevrolet's recall department, and they said there is nothing they can do, because they can only approve reimbursement for active recalls, which is based on the vehicle's VIN number. If and when a recall for a 2010 Equinox happens, then I would be eligible for reimbursement. I am filling out this report, because you need to know this is the exact same problem that is currently recalled on a 2013 Chevy Equinox, and deserves to be looked into for the 2010 Equinox as well.

While driving in heavy rain on the highway at 55 mph the wipers suddenly jerked left and stopped working. One wiper was off the driver side of the windshield and the other was stopped in front of my face. Very dangerous because not only was there rain pouring down, there was a wiper right in front of me blocking my view. I was able to get off the road and move the wipers to their normal off position but they no longer functioned. A new wiper transmission was required. The us recall for 2013 only needs to be expanded to match the recall in Canada. Definitely a huge safety issue!
