Upon filling the fuel tank, there is a very strong odor of gasoline while parked. This odor does not dissipate quickly. The odor is present outside the vehicle and inside the vehicle as well. I fear that this will cause a fire or an inhalation issue for the occupants. I purchased this vehicle recently from the original owner. It has 49,000 miles. I cannot locate the source of the odor. The fuel cap was tested a few days ago during dmv inspection and was not defective.
I purchased the vehicle used approximately 12 months ago. Every time I fill the fuel tank there are gas fumes that come out of the top of the the driver's side fuel tank and the entire garage smells like gasoline. I am concerned my house is going to catch fire with the gas water heater in the garage and all of the gas fumes. It appears to be the connector on top off the fuel tank where the fuel pump inserts. It is my understanding GM knows about this issue. Has a recall been issued for this serious safety issue" will the manufacturer repair this problem"
Car smells like gas around the driver side tire, in cockpit also under the gas tank when the car is filled up, noticed a few small drops of gas the other day under said location. GM as stopped fixing this, I believe this should be a full recall.

A few months ago, I filled my 2008 Corvette C6 with gas. I only filled it until the pump clicked off. I was already aware overfilling is not good for the car nor is it a safe practice. I drove about 25-30 miles before returning home. Everything seemed fine until the following morning when I went out to my garage. The smell of gas was overpowering. I immediately opened both doors in the garage to allow it to air out. I then checked the gas cap. The smell was coming strongly from the driver's side rear. I checked under the fuel tank and felt gas. I parked the car for a few weeks until I could get it into a GM dealership. After they checked it out, I was told that this was a common problem with the car. I asked if Chevrolet had issued any safety recalls and I was shocked that although Chevrolet is very aware of the problem, they don't think their customers safety is worth taking away from the bottom line. To reiterate, the fuel system is leaking, GM is aware of the fault, and it's felt that they should recall this. If someone hasn't been killed yet, someone will soon.
My car smells like gas when its above a half tank. Once it goes below a half tank the smell is not as strong. I took it to lakeside Chevrolet in rockwall, Texas and was told that it appears that seal on the fuel pump was broken causing gas to escape. I was originally told that chev would fix it at no cost to me then they called me 3 days later and told me warranty would not cover it because my cars age. Wendell, in the service dept said that chev had extended the warranty to 10 years or 120,000 miles whichever came 1st because of the issues they were having with the fuel system. My car has 63,000 miles on it. I felt they should fix it but they wont unless I pay the $2500 or so.
Strong smell of gas. At first it was not very strong but has been getting worse. Now the whole garage smells like gas and every time that I get in or out of the car even in open air I smell it.
I have a strong gas odor coming from left rear side of the car when I fill the tank more than half full, the car only has 6000 miles, I purchased new in November 2007
The car has a strong gas smell that has a know problem that happens when tank is over half full. GM issued a special coverage adjustment 15682 primary tank module flange fuel and vapor leak in July 2016. But many of us as second owners did not receive the letter to take car back while still under warranty, the car has smell is so strong cannot park the car in garage and can smell when it outside. I would believe there could be a risk of fire if car was in a small enclosed space and a source of ignition was present. This should have been a full recall based on a gas vapor leak not just a service adjustment. I have tried to work with GM on this but they claim its to late even though they issued a 3rd revision of the adjustment in July 2017. To me for a known fuel vapor leak problem there should be no expiration like a recall
After filling the gas tank there is a strong gasoline odor in the car. I first started noticing this mid-year this year (2019). After several days, the odor is less. If the car sits for a time with more than 3/4 full tank, the odor is quite noticeable when you get in the car.
I notice a strong fuel odor inside the car when tank is filled.. once I get to like half a tank it goes away. Also the headlight lens has to be polished frequently.they are cheap plastic.
Very strong fuel smell, after filling up with fuel. Fuel smell while driving vehicle. After vehicle is turned off, I can hear a sizzling sound on rear exhaust, as well as smelling fuel. There are gas leak marks on left rear fuel tank, as if fuel is leaking somewhere on left fuel tank. I am worried about possible fire or explosion with driving this vehicle.
Wiring harness for drivers seat failed causing airbag system to be disabled. Fails at start-up. Strong fuel smell from driver's side. Vehicle stationary. Not cured by replacing gas gap and fuel pump.
I received a letter which requested me to take my Corvette to get it repaired if I smell gas when the tank was over half full. At the time I received the letter I did not have this problem. About five or six months later the problem occured. When I took it to the Chevrolet dealer I was told thatthis was a timed letter and that the time for a repair had passed and it would cost me about $2,500 to repair by taking off the gas tank and replacing the fuel pump and line wherethe crack occured. This caused me great concern and I shallnever again have a Chevrolet or GM car in garage.
