This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.

Vehicle was traveling about 45 mph, hydroplaned, spun out of control, ABS system failed to stabilize vehicle. Car struck guardrail, no driver or passenger airbag deployment. Vehilce is total loss.
While driving at 45 mph, the consumer was involved in a front collision and none of the air bags deployed. The dealer was notified. The accident occurred during a rainstorm. The vehicle hydroplaned, spun around, and struck the median. The anti lock brakes failed to help gain control of the vehicle.
In dry, good road conditions, when braking, the ABS goes into inappropriate operation and reduces braking ability by 40% to 70%. I tested the vehicle under safe conditions and the problem is consistent. I re-seated the electrical connectors on the ABS modulator / motor pack and the problem temporarily goes away.

On dry land ABS braking system goes into an appropiate braking operation. Loses about 40 to 70% of brakes. Consumer receded connectors, and problem went away.
When brakes applied, wheels lockup, pulsate and some times pedal goes to the floor, close to causing and accident. Owner unpluged the 6 wires plug to ABS and brakes work fine.
During normal braking from speed of approx. 45mph to speed of approx. 20mph on flat, level, smooth, dry pavement, ABS system activated without reason. Entire car shuddered and steering attempted to pull car to the left with braking adjusted by ABS which lengthened braking distance greatly.. low trac dash light on during ABS controlled braking episode, but ABS light not on and not flashing. Shuddering noise heard from under car, especially toward right passenger front during ABS control of brakes and continued for approx. Another mile after brake pedal had been release and speed of 40 mph was resumed. Have had previous trouble with ABS activating without reason while breaking to a normal stop on dry pavement from slow speed (less than 10-15mph) and while breaking while driving down slight decline at slow speed in a parking garage. Also had instance of car being fully stopped at traffic light and ABS light coming on at same time as car jumped forward approx. 3 feet, while brake pedal suddenly allowed itself to be depressed all the way to the floor. Have called dealership re: Frequent instances of ABS light coming on and remaining on to which dealership said to shut car off, then turn on to reset ABS system. Have had ABS sensor replaced once, when car was approx. 2 years old. Had not trouble for approx. A year after that, but have had increasingly more frequent instances of ABS light remaining on (never flashing), especially since tires were replaced approx. 6 months ago. Have checked for proper tire inflation and balance to ensure this is not the difficulty. Am taking car to dealership later this week for ABS system to be fixed.
Reported car was slow to (long distances) stop dealer stated nothing wrong with breaks. When warreny ended dealer adjusedt rear beraks and continued to state nothing wrong on 8/15/00 car would slow to stop and then start rolling again. Cost me $530 to fix defective sensor. How many people will loose there lives do to defective ABS parts before a recall ans I feal I should get a refund this was not from misuse the car has 23261miles on

I have had a problem with the ABS light coming on just shortly after the vehicle was purchased. They supposedly said it was nothing serious, they may have replace(doubt it) or just reset sensor. On 7/3/00, my lights(ABS & low trac) came on so I called different mechanic...I was told that could be nothing but could also be problem and to bring car in. When I took the car in I was informed that the sensor hub was not working and so I had the left side replaced. One month later, August 21, the same thing happened again. Took the car in and this time it was the right side that had to be replaced. I think that Chevy or anyone else for that matter, should really take their customers serious when they say there is a problem with the car, as we the consumer drive their vehicles on a daily basis and know when something is not working correctly. They should definitely do a recall on this part before someone is driving down an interstate highway and ends of dying due to poor craftsmanship. I would appreciate hearing if anyone else has complained of same or similar problems that have occurred to me. Sincerely
ABS light will come on and stay on until vehicle has been turned off. While driving it will come on at random without the brakes being used. Also the low track will come on when braking. I have had the brakes replaced four times since I bought the car. The rotors were also replaced and the problem still occurs. Sometimes it seems as though the car is not going to stop at all. I am very afraid one day the brakes will not work when I need them to. Could you please follow up with the Chevrolet company and myself about this problem. It occurs to often and I have had mechanics look at it but they do not know what the problem is.
While driving on the highway ABS light comes on and stays on. When slowing down and applying brakes a low traction light comes on, and there are no brakes. Contacted the dealer and manufacturer. Was told that sensor needed to replace on the hubs.
ABS system does not always come on when starting the car. When it is on it often malfunctions. When braking, just before coming to a complete stop, the brakes lock up then quickly release, and the low tracking light comes on.
The ABS warning light is on. The system has been checked 3 times by a mechanic. Mechanic was not able to detect what the problem is with the system. The dealer is requesting $247 to chech out the system.
Intermittently when brakes are applied the pedal goes to the floor and the low traction light illuminates, resulting in extended stopping distance. The dealer has repaired vehicle three times.
Was driving in low traction when ABS light came on. Tried to stop, but vehicle failed to slow down. Used emergency brakes to stop. Took to dealer & mechanic put vehicle on diagnostic machine. Was informed sensors were out of place. Was repaired. Problem has since reappeared.
