This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Was applying the ABS brakes to stop the ABS brakes would release & then grab, causing extended stopping distance. Vehicle failed to stop right away. When raining, would have to push hard on brakes, vehicle would continue to move for awhile before stopping. Will be taking vehicle to dealer to check brakes.
ABS would suddenly stop working, it takes 5 to 10 feet to stop the vehicle and the brake warning light doesn't flash because of the wheel speed sensor failed.
Was applying the brakes when they would suddenly release & pedal would go to floor before ABS brakes caughton. Vehicle had extended stopping distance. Taking vehicle to dealership to check.
When applying the brakes pedal pushes back against the driver, and does not stop where intended. Also the ABS warning light keeps coming on. Dealer has not seen vehicle.
ABS failure causing braking problem: Low trac light is coming on during braking of the vehicle which is causing the system to automatically release the brakes momentarily to keep the vehicle from sliding (for a split second it feels like you don't have any brakes) and then the brakes grab again and the vehicle stops hard. This problem just recently started and is occurring every time the vehicle is brought to a full stop no matter what type of road surface. Also, "ABS inoper" light is coming on intermittently and staying lit for periods of time. I'm very concerned with this failure in the braking system.
On-going / intermittent problem with ABS low track senor light would come on, causes vehicle brake system to fail. Light finally stay on which dealer was able to correct problem. At consumer cost of approx. $647.86.
While driving consumer noticed that the ABS light was illuminated on the dashboard. Contacted the dealer, dealer has replaced parts. But problem still occurs. Consumer states while making a normal stop, he felt a sharp pulsation of the brake pedal and an immediate soft feeling in the brakes. While driving at highway sppeds with cruise control activated, vehicle will surge to 500 RPM, dealer could not find any problems.
ABS brake failed 5 times, pedal went floor, loss of effectiveness, once resulting in an accident, impact 12:00 position, driver's side airbag did not deploy. Also, seat belt did not hold/engine constantly overheated and windshield wipers were inoperative, won't clean windshield properly.
Consumer has noticed a braking problem due to the low track light which is illuminated on the dashboard; therefore, causing loss of brakes, brake pedal goes to the floor, resulting in extended stopping distance. Consumer has also contacted the dealer, dealer unable to find any problem. Plea *akser provide further information.
Dealer suppose to have repair center counsel on brakes (ABS), wife driving, brakes not working, locking up; cannot tell what gear vehicle is in at time.
Husband driving, started to slow down for stop sign, no brakes (ABS), pedal went completely to floor, vehicle went through stop sign, coasted to side of road and finally stopped on its own.
