This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Cracked dash starting at front passenger air bag..was told to contact manufacturer by local dealer. Dash now vibrates terribly.contacted manufacturer on 7/12/16. Only 42644 miles on vehicle. Have not heard back from manufacturer after talking to them about the problem.vehicle was parked.
Cracked dashed board part GM #19331336 panel. Cracked driver side and on passenger side near airbag. Local Chevy dealer will only replace for parts and labor fee. Unkown cause of crack.
Dashboard has cracked into multiple pieces around and behind the instrument cluster and near the airbag. Numerous calls with Chevy have failed to resolve the problem and Chevy refuses to guarantee, in writing, that the airbag will still discharge properly in an accident and remain seated properly and that the radio will not dislodge from the dash. This vehicle is well maintained and has approximately 51K miles on it. This is a huge safety concern and is a common issue with all vehicles with the same dash made from 2009-2013. Chevy has acknowledged this is an issue yet refuses to repair or replace unless they are forced to in a recall.
Dashboard cracked for no apparent reason could be a safety issue if the air bags happen to deploy. I have also read that this issue happens to these series trucks and if it is a manufactures defect GM should be required to replace them. Thanks, andrew
I had a crack that I noticed on the driver side on the dash. A few months later I noticed another one on the passenger side on the dash by the airbag. I have been on different customer forums and youtube videos and have found that this is a major problem. This is a manufacturer defect and has cause me to reconsider if I want to purchase another GM vehicle. I have a family and fear that the passenger side airbag may deploy and cause harm to anyone that may be on the passenger side which could lead to legal actions in case of an injury. I'm sure there will be enough owners with the same problem that will come forward. I hope that something can be done to help loyal paying customers like myself, without us having to pay any labor costs. I will start considering exposing this to the news station if nothing is done.
Dashboard cracked approximately 2" from airbag to front windshield vent causing dash to sink resulting in safety issue. Upon further investigation both online and within the fleet of the department of homeland security for which I am charged with maintaining vehicles, I noticed the same issue is epidemic exactly the same location fleet wide. GM charging $300 to repair for their own manufacturing defect.
