My dash cracked at 17000 miles, cracked right down the middle for no reason. The only reason I knew it was cracked as I heard a terrible rattling and my dash was what I can only describe as jumping. In cleaning the dashboard one afternoon I noticed a large crack, I immediately went to the dealership with this problem. Yes they said there are some problems with some of the dash boards and these vehicles and that they would replace it for no charge, I would think so since the truck was only two years old and had 17,000 miles on it! now at 50 mm the dash has cracked once again this time in a different place, and the noise and rattling is unbearable. Took it to my local dealer they said I had to contact GM, which I did and after 4 days of waiting, I contacted the dealer and she said she spoke with GM and they were offering 0 assistance. Now I am asked to pay $1008 for a second cracked dash? I was even told by their dealership I was lucky they replaced it the first time because sometimes people get their dashes cracked by" people putting their feet on them". my husband and I are the only ones who drive this vehicle we don't even have any children. If that even matters!! I am outraged that GM is turning their head to this and expecting the consumer to fix a faulty and obvious defect in their vehicles. I will not pay to get this fixed I will get rid of this vehicle and buy a Toyota or Honda something that I know will last. My entire family has worked or has retired from GM and this is heartbreaking. It's beyond maddening! I was just driving and heard rattling in both cases.
Vehicle was stationary when I noticed a large crack in the dashboard near the passenger side dashboard air bag. The truck was parked in my driveway. I am concerned with the effectiveness of the airbag.
Dashboard has 2 large cracks close to airbag and steering wheel when I googled the problem I noticed a facebook page and online petition I'm worried what would happen if airbag deployed I feel with the thousands of issues it should be considered safety related.
My 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche has the dash crack from defective material used in manufacture. There are two cracks at the passenger air bag, which is awaiting a recall fix, at each forward corners of passenger airbag and go in direction of windshield. Then the dash is cracked forward of the instrument cluster and it proceeds in the direction of windshield. There is a separate forward dash panel, forward of the dash assembly, where the dash is cracked at instrument cluster that area has two anchor points that have failed from cracking and the forward dash panel will not stay attached. I have researched this problem and it seems to be common among General Motors Chevrolet/GMC truck and full size SUV models. The forward dash panel and parts off the defective dash could come loose in a vehicle accident and cause possible eye and face injuries from being projectiles inside the passenger compartment. This is a defect in material used in the manufacture of the dash panels and in my opinion should be under a recall. Please see if others have submitted this same problem.

General Motors dash cracks on various Avalanche model years. My research suggest other GM vehicles similar too the Avalanche. My meticulously maintained Avalanche is typical. Comparing too other GM vehicles of other owners. Crack are near identical in location. Presently one at the passenger airbag. Second crack on the instrument dash hump. I can only conclude the possibility of a design flaw. Crack picture are the best I can do. Airbag crack is near the quarter. Two pictures show the vehicle is not abused. General Motors contact have proved useless. "if I want the crack repaired, I would have to pay from my own pocket."
Dashboard in my 2011 Chevy Avalanche cracked near the airbag which I consider a safety hazard. If I get in an automobile crash and the airbag deploys I am concerned that shards of dash will be propelled into the cab and could harm my wife or me. General Motors refuses to even particpate in the cost of replacing the dashboard.
My dashboard right above the drive seat instrument cluster has a large crack and getting bigger. Possible safety issue when traveling the vibration of the road increase cracking
Found large crack on top of dash above speedometer as well as several small cracks around passenger air bag. It is like they appeared overnight. If the passenger air bag would deploy, defective dash could break apart and possibly cause injury.
Large crack in top of dash and several small cracks around passenger air bag. One day the dash was fine, the next day, while cleaning the interior I noticed these cracks. If passenger air bag would deploy, defective dash could break apart and possibly cause injury.
Dashboard has cracked in a couple of places, similar to many others with this vehicle type. One crack is just above the steering wheel, the other is behind the passenger side airbag. Worried this may be a safety issue if airbag is deployed. With as many complaints, photos, and documented cases, this should be repaired by GM.
"takata recall" crack dash in 2 places on 2011 Avalanche due to heat from sun this is a common issue with GMC/Chevy trucks needs to be fix paied good money for truck! very unhappy!! very unsafe 1 crack at passanger air bag ang other at insterment rear of dash! had about 60,000 miles on it when a friend notice the cracks!
My dashboard cracked in two places, by the passenger airbag and over the instrument cluster. As near as I can tell it occurred when my wife was driving on a highway. Highway 99 from athens, al to salem, al. We are afraid that, if anything occurs to cause the airbag to inflate it will send shards of plastic flying through the cab.
Cracked dashboard: I have a cracked dashboard and I am concerned about the effects it may have on the dashboard airbag deployment if I were to get into a accident.
Dashboard cracked in two places, one is on corner of airbag cover. The other crack is on drivers side of dash on left corner of windshield air defroster vent. As I drive the vehicle, the dash panel bounces up and down and I am afraid the passengers air bag will be set off by the vibration.
