Takata recall #16V381 - manufacturer recall #2049151 I don't understand how there can be a recall with no remedy. I want my passenger to be safe in my car but GM will not fix it. What can I do? I have been waiting and worrying since 2016 for a replacement airbag.
My vehicle has a takata airbag. I have inquired my local dealer to schedule a replacement for almost three (3) years. The only thing they have told me is that a remedy is not yet available. Seems odd as others I know have gotten their airbag replaced.

I saw the commercial regarding the airbag recall. My Chevy Avalanche was listed. I confirmed with our dealership that it indeed is on the recall list. I've only used the one dealership for this vehicle. They confirmed that they've never fixed it even though they were aware of this recall and have refused to fix it now. I've gone all the way up through Chevy the corporation who says they cannot fix my airbag. What do I do now? my husband and son drive this vehicle. We are still driving it. We have to.

Takata recall I have a 2008 chev Avalanche which has a air bag inflator recall issued over 3 years ago. Importance of repairs were stated as age of vehicle and region where it resides. I bought my Avalanche new, 11 years ago, and have always lived in Florida. I recently had my dashboard replaced due to cracking as a result of, according to GM, 'heat and humidity' in Florida. However what seems to be a very important safety issue for passengers (wife and grandkids) doesn't seem to get priority attention. If in fact takata and GM believe that age and humid regions are primary factors which determine the degradation time of air bag inflators and increase the possibility of injury or death then my vehicle should be high on the recall list. May 27, 2016 recall issued and still no action.
