2000 Buick Regal LX. Odometer dimmed intermittently, but now is completely dark. Gas gauge "bounces" around making it impossible to determine how much fuel remains. Out of fuel condition in intersection posed a safety hazard three times.

I was driving on the highway and turned my blinker on to pass a vehicle when the car shut the power off and on to the gas.while I did that the all the lights on my dash were blinking when I turned back in to the other lane I had turned my blinker back on. Started doing it again. I got to an exit to turn around to go home so I turned my blinker back on and the car shut down on my while I was turning a sharpe corner. So I had no power steering. I started it back up but when I got down the road I had to turn again so I turned my blinker on and it had did it again. I noticed I had to turn my hazards on to get home, and when I did that they lights didn't blink on the dash. I made it home and checked all the fuses but that wasn't the problem. I can't start my car now and the lights still blink on the dash even when the key is just on the on position.

9/12/09 dies and will not restart. 9/14/09 parts that needed replaced are starter and battery. Problem is still there. Car will only turn over (run) when the head lights are on (not in the auto mode) and if turned off the car dies and every light on dash is eliminated and flashing. Then when blinkers are used while driving the motor dies. This happens every time the car is driven (after 9/14/09). On blogs other owners have experienced this problem and replaced ignition switch.

2000 Buick Regal w/automatic...after about 3 yrs intermittent problem "key capture"...park, turn off ignition and sometimes cannot remove key and cannot move wheel to locate anti-theft steering wheel lock detent...repeated restart / moving of auto / ignition off...finally releases key !!...loss of electrical power causes steering wheel lock !!!...if battery is discharged, attempt at start causes key to be "captured, "...cannot be removed without "boost."...the latter indicates essentially faulty design...apparently nobody checked what would happen with dead battery, loss of auto electrical power, or loss of electrical power at steering wheel anti-theft locking system..."theft setup"...can set door locks and exit vehicle, but "captured key" can be used to start engine and vehicle can be driven away !!!..apparently this is no longer a simple mechanical detent, but a solenoid system...so-called "fail safe" is in "wrong direction" !!!...ought to fail into non-locking...this system is irritating at minimum, but can easily be a terrible safety hazard when vehicle is in motion...dealer maintained "never heard of problem."..past June arrived in fargo, nd for overnight...took dozen restarts / moves / stops before key "released" !!!...local dealer familiar with problem...connector corrosion at shift console...unitized assembly, entire console sub-assembly replacement at $780 !!!...tech "loaded" connector with silicone "ignition grease" to forestall recurrence...don't know extent (years and vehicles) GM is using this system...(aside opinion)...dealer denial of problem and no issuance of defect warning opens up a potentially hellish legal liability campaign...

Same as ODI case numbers 10170430 and 10164275. Engine dies when directional are turned on. I can sometimes restart the car a second time, but it sputters intermittently until engine clears. Usually a third attempt to start fails. Would like input from someone who has found the solution. I have changed out the directional assembly. It didn't help. Car has 173,000 miles on. Car key have security chip.

While driving my 2000 Buick Regal I turned on the turn signal and the instrument panel lights flashed and the engine turned off. This resulted in lost of power steering and power brakes and I had to fight the car to the side of the road. This happened a total of three times.

Car engine dies when using left or right turn signal! upon attempting to restart engine... battery power surges starter, dash indicator lamps, radio, A/C, in pulses almost keeping speed with the pulses of cars emergency flashers! wife was almost hit by on coming eighteen wheeler when she attempted to cross an intersection and make a left turn! car will not restart unless emergency flashers or headlamps are manually turned on! of course by the time this will be figured out by most.... they will have already been run over by their eighteen wheeler!

Dual climate control: Passenger side air stuck at one temperature. Passenger side does not respond to any controls, stays at for example at 70 degrees. This has happened twice. Mechanic says it is an electrical servo, rather than a vacuum canister. It has cost me $167 to fix both times. It may also be helpful to know that the first failure happened around may of 2005 and temperature was on full heat and second failure happened this may of 2006 and the temperature was stuck at about 70 degrees. Furthermore, the temperature lights of the dual climate panel cycle as though it is functional.

While driving 20 mph the steering failed. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a snow bank. The consumer experienced two crashes due to the brakes and the steering locking. The consumer had taken the vehicle to the dealer on three occasions for the steering problem but the locking continued. The dash lights would come on (gas gauge and oil light), the vehicle pulled to the right and the trunk would fly open while the vehicle was in motion.

Climate contol malfunctioned. Sometimes, the driver's side mid-level climate control vents blow warm air, even though the climate control is set on auto and the passenger's side is blowing cold air. This happens regardless of the "auto" temperature setting ( 68, 74 degress, etc.). this malfunction could cause driver distraction or even drowsiness.
