The passenger seat belt warning comes on saying the air bag is in defect, the seat belt is not working but wear seat belt for safety anyway. My car is a 2007 model that was not included in the recall but I am concerned that it was made with defective faults, since there is not enough complaints about them it was not included in the recall. It could have been a broader recall than they thought!! my car is in the shop right now for repairs.

Started the engine. Passenger sat in vehicle. The passenger restraint system failure light appeared on screen. I thought it was a glitch. The light appeared on and off for several weeks. Went to an independent mechanic and told that it was the seat mat or sensor and the cost would run around 1500 at the dealer. Was told to check to see if there was a recall. Checked on the website and there was no recall but many complaints about the same problem occurring for the 2006 vehicles.

Warning message for passenger side air bag malfunction. Took to dealer and told it was the seat sensor. I did not replace it because it was way to much money. There are tons of complaints about the same thing happening to people with this car. Prior year cars have been recalled for the same issue. It sure seems like this year car has the same problem. Please help all of us BMW owners out. Thank you!

Vehicle keeps saying passenger restraint malfunction. Passenger air bag will not deploy in an event of an accident. There was a recall for the year 2004-2006 models, for the same reason (passenger restraint malfunction). The recall does not cover the 2007, 2008, 2009 model. The car has never been in an accident, and I feel like if it does, my passenger air bag should deploy when there is a body occupying that seat. The car says the passenger air bag will not deploy when an accident occurs, this is a serious defect. This should not be a problem in any vehicle, let alone a BMW.

My 2007 525xi has encountered the same problem covered by NHTSA campaign 08V384000 in 2008 which disables the front airbag. My for recall in that campaign ended in 2006. I was able to verify with BMW that the part number for the seat to repair the issue in MY2007 is the same as MY2006. Has any tracking of the occurrence in MY2007 occurred" why would the same part not be covered under the manufactures extension to the warranty of 10 years unlimited mileage" this is approximately a $1200 repair to replace the seat as BMW does not sell the sensor mat without the seat.

Passenger side air bag warning. Took vehicle to dealer here in Florida - we are here for the winter. Dealer bramen in West palm beach quoted us $1700 to repair. We declined as we thought the cost was exorbitant. The dealer rep said it was a safety problem and needed repair. I have looked on the internet and see prior model years have been recalled for what appears to be a similar problem.

On September 16,2009 I was involved in an auto collision in my 2007 BMW 525I series. I was stopped at a freeway exit off the 405 S. where suddenly a vehicle that was doing a speed of no less of 50-60 mph collided into the back drivers side passenger door which resulted me to be pushed forward at least 75-100 feet. The force and impact of the other vehicle was so severe, that is caused the other vehicle to flip over multiple times and land about 100 yards away from impact. With such an impact and the speed of the other car without hitting their breaks at all, you would think that not only the front driver, passenger, or rear passenger airbags (especially that was were the impact was) that the airbags would deploy. That is not the case. No airbags deployed and this is a major concern. I am very lucky that I only suffered injuries and not death and that goes for the passenger in the car with. I am also thankful that I did not have my 5 month old baby in the backseat. If she was is the backseat she would have not her life because no air bag deployed. I was made aware that over 200,000 BMW were recalled for models of 2005-2006. Apparently BMW has not resolved the issue for 2007 and possibly 2008 or 2009. This is a serious matter and must be looked into. Please take my email seriously and to the heart because no one should lose a life due to incompetence of a major auto manufacturer especially when there seems to be a recall to previous years and exact models. I do not believe BMW is making the necessary corrections or adjustments to this defect which may cause unnecessary injuries and/or deaths. I would like to hold BMW accountable for this issue and would like to be advised on what steps I must take for BMW to take this seriously and make things right.
