What if my vehicle is one of the ones that start on fire, then what" if there is a recall, there is obviously a serious potential problem, so why are manufacturers allowed to have an excessive amount of time to come up with the fix"

The car has been recalled by BMW national due to 2 recalls: The pvc valve gasket and the heating wireframe. Car had been showing signs of smoke coming out of hood and smell of plastic burned inside the cabin. BMW national asked the car to be towed to a dealership. Car is actually with the dealership for over 6 weeks and BMW has not given any prevision when it will be repaired. Please help.
