— A Ford Escape recall has been issued for 2020 model year SUVs because of seatback recliner mechanisms that may fail in crashes.
About 9,350 Escapes in North America are included in the expanded recall that was originally announced in August.
Ford says the Escape SUVs weren't originally part of the recall of 550,000 F-Series, Explorer, Expedition and Lincoln Aviator vehicles.
According to the automaker, the 2020 Escapes have manual seatback recliner mechanisms that may be missing pawls used to strengthen the seatbacks.
The Escapes were built in Kentucky between April 3, 2019, to September 21, 2019, and most of the SUVs are allegedly in the hands of dealerships.
The automaker didn't say more about the recall or when it will begin, but Ford Escape dealers will replace the seat structures if necessary.
