— Toyota is recalling about 6,000 vehicles because they could suddenly lose brake assist due to bad vacuum pumps.
The recall includes the 2018 Toyota Camry and Highlander, plus the 2017 Toyota Sienna, Tacoma and Lexus RX 350.
The automaker says manufacturing problems occurred with components inside the vacuum pumps that will cause braking problems, along with illuminated warning lights, messages and audible warnings.
Toyota and Lexus dealers will replace the vacuum pumps with new pumps once the recall begins near the end of May 2018.
Owners of the recalled Toyota vehicles may call 800-331-4331 and owners of Lexus RX 350 vehicles may call 800-255-3987.
The recall isn't good news for 2018 Toyota Camry owners considering a week ago the automaker announced a recall of 1,700 model year 2018 Camry cars because the pistons may be too large. The only way to fix the problem is for dealers to replace the engines.
No additional information about the vacuum pump recall is available, but CarComplaints.com will update this page when the government releases information.
