— McLaren Automotive is recalling 231 model year 2013 MP4-12C cars because the passenger frontal airbag inflators could explode and kill occupants.
Although most Takata airbag-related fatalities have occurred in Honda vehicles, every recalled vehicle from every automaker is a danger to occupants.
McLaren says the cars are recalled if they were ever sold or registered in the following states:
Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan) and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The McLaren Takata airbag recall will begin January 22, 2018, when dealers will begin replacing the front passenger airbag inflators.
