Lexus Recalls RC F, GS F and LC 500 Due to Risk of Fires
Lexus says 9,900 vehicles may leak fuel from damaged high-pressure fuel pump covers.

— Lexus is recalling 9,900 vehicles at risk of catching on fire from leaking fuel caused by damaged fuel pump covers.

Recalled are the 2015-2018 Lexus RC F, 2016-2018 Lexus GS F and 2018 Lexus LC 500, each vehicle equipped with two high-pressure fuel pumps and 5.0L V8 2UR-GSE gasoline engines.

Lexus says there is a possibility the pulsation damper in one of the high pressure fuel pumps could become damaged due to resonance of the fuel pressure. The damage can lead to noise and vibration that will eventually cause the pump cover to crack. That crack can expand and allow gas to leak from the cover.

As with any gas leak, contact with an ignition source can easily cause a vehicle fire.

Lexus dealers will replace both high-pressure fuel pumps with new and improved pumps when the recall begins April 2, 2018.

Lexus owners may call the automaker at 800-255-3987 and refer to recall number J2B or number JLB.

The Lexus recall concerning possible fuel fires was announced the same day Toyota issued a Camry recall over fears of fires caused by gas leaks.
