— Nissan is recalling nearly 4,900 Rogue SUVs to repair problems related to the rear seats. The 2016-2017 Nissan Rogues have recliner joints on the lower seat frames of the rear seats that may have bad welds.
The supplier of the lower rear seat frame assembly, Faurecia Automotive Systems, had problems during manufacturing when welding the affected parts.
The supplier contacted Nissan about the possibility the seat frames might not be legal under federal requirements due to the welding job. Engineers conducted testing to confirm the problem and which models and years were affected.
Occupants in the rear seats could be thrown around in a crash if the welds don't hold, even if they are wearing seat belts.
The 2016-2017 Nissan Rogue recall begin December 4, 2017. Dealers will check the seat frames and replace any that are defective.
Rogue owners who have questions should contact Nissan at 800-647-7261.
