— Model year 2018 Ford Mustangs are recalled because of problems with the premium instrument clusters that can fail to illuminate in certain situations.
Ford says more than 2,100 Mustangs equipped with automatic transmissions are affected. If a driver turns off the car with the transmission in anything other than PARK, the instrument cluster can fail to illuminate the display.
In addition, the driver won't receive a warning chime that should activate to warn a driver when they open the door that the key is still in the ignition.
This condition can cause the Mustang to roll away, but Ford isn't aware of any crashes or injuries related to the defect.
The recalled Mustangs were all built in Michigan between March 14 and November 26, 2017, with 2,100 of the cars located in the U.S. and another 67 recalled in Canada.
As with so many recalls involving computerized cars, Ford dealers will fix the problems by updating the instrument cluster software.
The automaker didn't say when the 2018 Ford Mustang recall will begin, but owners with questions may call 866-436-7332 and ask about recall number 17C21.
