Chrysler Recalls Minivans To Replace Loose Windshields
Chrysler recalls 250 minivans with windshields that can dislodge in a crash due to bad primer.

— Fiat Chrysler (FCA US) is recalling about 250 minivans because the windshields can dislodge in a crash. The 2015-2016 Chrysler Town and Country and 2014-2015 Dodge Grand Caravan have windshields that were installed with expired urethane primer.

Chrysler says two vehicles were tested for windshield urethane bond using something called the "quick knife" method. One vehicle had a 75 percent failure rate and the second had 16 percent failure.

The automaker says lab results showed using urethane with a primer that expired in July 2015 always passed the tests. However, using urethane with a primer that expired in January 2015 failed 100 percent of the time.

The recalled Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan vehicles were built August 16, 2014, to December 5, 2015.

Chrysler says there have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the windshield problems.

The windshield recall will begin on March 4, 2016. Chrysler dealers will replace the windshields in the Town and Country and Grand Caravan minivans.

Minivan owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403 and give them recall number S02.
