— BMW is recalling 13 model year 2015-2016 Rolls-Royce Phantom cars to fix airbag problems. The $400,000 cars have left and right side curtain air bags that may not been manufactured properly.
On October 29, 2015, a supplier told BMW about problems during a routine test that suggested a side curtain airbag may not have been assembled correctly by a sub-supplier. An investigation found nine defective parts out of a total of 924 parts, and a follow-up investigation determined only 13 cars need repairs in the U.S.
BMW says there have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the airbags.
The recalled Rolls-Royce Phantoms were built May 22, 2015, to September 23, 2015.
Rolls-Royce will notify the 13 owners and replace the side curtain airbags. The process should begin January 11, 2016.
Phantom owners with questions should call BMW customer service at 800-367-6372.
