— Mitsubishi is recalling 13,500 model year 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage and 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV vehicles because the airbags may fail to deploy in a crash.
Mitsubishi says electrical problems inside the impact sensor for the airbag system can cause the frontal airbags to have a delay in deployment and the side and curtain airbags can completely fail.
Mitsubishi says the wrong manufacturing process caused an increase in the electrical resistance inside the impact sensor for the airbag system. Because of the defect, an abnormal communication can be detected by the electronic control unit and activate the airbag warning light. With the light illuminated, the airbags can fail in a crash.
The recalled 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage vehicles were manufactured July 27, 2013, to November 20, 2013, and the 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV cars were built October 28, 2011, to September 7, 2012.
Mitsubishi doesn't know when the recall will begin, but dealers are expected to replace the airbag impact sensors with a "countermeasure" unit. Owners who have already paid to have this problem fixed can be reimbursed by the automaker.

Mitsubishi Outlander Sport
Just two model year 2011 Outlander Sport vehicles are recalled, but for those two SUVs it's an important recall. The automaker says the wrong vehicle identification numbers are printed on the labels.
Mitsubishi doesn't know when the recall will begin, but dealers will simply install new labels on the two SUVs.
