— Kia is recalling over 95,000 model year 2010-2013 Kia Soul cars that could cause serious harm to an occupant if the curtain airbag deploys.
Kia says the recalled cars are equipped with a sunroof and attached headliner plate that can detach when the curtain airbag deploys. The headliner plate could possibly cause more damage to an occupant than an actual crash.
The automaker says the recalled 2010-2013 Kia Souls were manufactured January 8, 2009, to October 2, 2013, and includes only those equipped with sunroofs.
The recall will begin on February 2, 2015. Kia dealers will install extra-strength adhesive strips to make sure the headliner plates don't move when the airbags deploy.
Owners of the recalled 2010-2013 Kia Soul cars can contact customer service at 949-468-4800 and give them recall number SC112.
