— Audi is recalling about 7,000 model year 2014-2015 Audi SQ5 crossover SUVs to fix problems with the power steering systems. In February 2015, Audi noticed an increase in warranty complaints about the power steering systems that occurred during cold weather.
Losing power steering can be very dangerous when traveling at slow speeds or around turns, so Audi says owners should keep watchful eyes on the instrument panel lights.
If you notice a power steering light illuminate on the instrument panel, prepare for a possible loss of power steering assist. The automaker says a call should immediately be placed to a dealership to have the SUV inspected. Dealers will check for problems in the steering motor sensor.
Audi says the recalled SQ5 crossover SUVs were built May 22, 2013, to April 14, 2015, with about 5,625 SUVs currently in the U.S. and 1,398 in Canada.
Owners of the 2014-2015 Audi SQ5 should be receiving recall notices within days. Audi dealers will update the power steering control module software.
