— Toyota is recalling 5,650 model year 2014 Toyota Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon and Avalon Hybrid cars that could lose steering control.
Toyota says there is a problem with a bolt hole in the left front lower suspension arm where it connects to the ball joint. The automaker says the bolt hole wasn't manufactured to specification which could cause the bolt to loosen, a bad situation if the lower ball joint takes a hard impact.
Toyota says the impacts from road surfaces could be enough to cause the lower arm to separate from the ball joint. Any separation of the lower arm could cause a driver to lose the ability to steer the car.
Although it could be a disastrous circumstance, Toyota isn't aware of any crashes or injuries related to the loose bolt hole.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hasn't said when the recall will begin, but Toyota dealers will replace the left front lower suspension arm with a new arm.
Owners of the 2014 Toyota Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon and Avalon Hybrid should watch for recall notices in the mail, or call Toyota at 800-331-4331.
