— Ford has announced they will recall almost 595,000 model year 2013-2014 C-MAX and Escape vehicles because the side-curtain air bag could fail in a rollover crash.
Ford says a restraint control module supplied by Robert Bosch LLC has software errors that could cause the air bag to experience a delay in deployment. The recalled vehicles were built at the Louisville plant from October 5, 2011, to February 14, 2014 , and the Michigan plant from January 19, 2012, to February 24, 2014.
Ford says it has received no warranty claims, customer complaints or injuries related to the restraint control module defect.
Mailing of owner notification letters will begin the week of May 26, 2014. Ford dealers will reprogram the restraint control module.
Affected owners of the 2013-2014 C-MAX and Escape can call Ford customer service at 800-392-3673 and give them recall number 14S04.
