— Hyundai is recalling over 186,000 model year 2011-2013 Elantra vehicles because an air bag deployment, which is meant to protect you, could actually harm you.
The vehicles were manufactured from November 12, 2010, through March 5, 2013.
Hyundai says a support bracket attached to the headliner can come loose during a side curtain air bag deployment. The air bag itself might help protect you, but the bracket could cause you serious harm.
Hyundai believes applying adhesive strips to the headliner will fix the problem, and that’s what dealers will do during the recall. However, that won’t happen until May, 2013.
