— American Honda is recalling 748,000 model year 2009-2013 Pilot and 2011-2013 Odyssey vehicles in the U.S. because the driver-side air bags potentially were assembled without some of the rivets that secure the air bag's plastic cover.
Missing rivets could cause the air bag to fail in a crash. Honda says no crashes or injuries have been reported related to the problem.
Honda will contact customers in February, 2013. At that time, owners also will be able to determine if their vehicles require repair by going to www.recalls.honda.com or by calling 800-999-1009, and selecting option 4. A Honda dealer will inspect, and if needed, replace the air bag.
This is the second large recall in about a month involving Odyssey and Pilot vehicles.
In December, 2012, Honda recalled over 807,000 model year 2003 and 2004 Pilot and Odyssey and 2003 through 2006 Acura MDX vehicles because problems with the interlock lever of the ignition switch could cause the vehicles to roll away.
