GM Recalls Trucks Over Risk of Head/Neck Injuries in a Crash
Mechanism that controls the seatback and head restraint might not hold in a crash.

— General Motors is recalling almost 19,000 model year 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks equipped with manual reclining seatbacks.

GM says a driver could receive a serious injury because the seatback mechanism or head restraint might not hold in a rear-end crash.

GM discovered the problem at one of their plants and sent directions to dealers about how to fix the problem on unsold trucks.  The recall will assure that trucks already sold will be safe to drive.

The specific Silverado and Sierra trucks were manufactured August 1, 2013, through September 10, 2013.

Affected owners should have already received a recall notice.  Dealers will adjust the seatback recliner mechanism.

With questions or concerns, owners should contact Chevrolet at 800-222-1020 or GMC at 800-462-8782 and refer to recall number 13323.
