Faulty Child Lock in Ford Vehicles Can Allow Children to Open Door
Rear door might look to be locked, but it isn't. You won't know until your child opens the door.

— Ford is recalling 5,675 model year 2013 Focus, C-Max and Escape vehicles because the left rear door child lock was built wrong.  This is a dangerous situation because the door can be opened from the inside even if the child lock is engaged.

The affected Focus and C-Max vehicles were built from November 16, 2012, through November 21, 2012, and the Escape vehicles were built November 14, 2012, through November 21, 2012.

The recall is expected to begin March 25, 2013.  Dealers will inspect the latches and replace them if needed.

Owners of the affected vehicles can contact Ford at 866-436-7332 and ask about recall number 13S02.

For those keeping a running tab on recalls for the 2013 Ford Escape, this is the sixth, counting an expansion of a previous recall.  Check out the others below.
