— Ford is recalling over 7,000 model year 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid cars because they could be shifted out of the "Park" position without pressing the brake pedal. Ford says there was a manufacturing problem that could cause the transmission range sensor to malfunction.
With the ability for the transmission to move out of Park without using the brake pedal, it wouldn't take much for the car to roll away on its own.
Ford says the affected Lincoln MKZ Hybrid cars were improperly manufactured April 26, 2012, through September 24, 2013.
The recall should begin in January, 2014. Ford dealers will update the powertrain control module with new software.
