— BMW is recalling nearly 30,000 model year 2009-2012 X5 xDrive 35d SAV diesel vehicles because the engine belt idler pulley bolt could loosen and break. If it breaks you will lose all power steering which could come as a big surprise if traveling at highway speeds.
BMW says the affected vehicles were manufactured from September 1, 2008, through November 15, 2012.
The recall should start in January, 2013. BMW will send official notification and your dealer will replace the idler pulley bolt. If you have questions, call BMW at 800-525-7417.
