Ordered vehicle from the factory in 2016 as a 2017 model. Not a heavy driver as I have a company vehicle. Almost four years later when the vehicle reached approximately 18k, I stared feeling a heavy vibration while normal braking. Having the vehicle serviced the dealer in September of 2020 they advised the rear rotors and brake pads needed to be replaced. Of course I thought this was crazy as I only have but 18k on a vehicle that is not that old. The warranty took care of the rotors but I had to pay for the pads.
A couple of weeks later the vibration returned. Took the vehicle back to the dealership who then advised the front rotors needed to be replaced which was still covered under warranty. Finally in November early December I noticed when having my foot slightly on the brake pedal there is a load sound like a door creaking. It immediately stops once the foot is completely off the brake but if its held in a certain spot say in very slow traffic or backing into a parking space its constant.
Took the vehicle back to the dealership. The service manager advised they inspected the brakes and everything was normal as far as the rotor and pad ware. We did recreate the noise but a true explanation wasn't given. When I left the parking lot with the vehicle rental I duplicated the noise with another Volvo. This appears to be a design flaw. A vehicle with less that 20k should be sounding like it has 150k and 20 years old.
