I can not believe that I am the first person to log a complaint for a (2001) Volvo XC70!

For me, it started with my alternator at 75k, then my rear wheel hub at 78k, water pump & timing belt at 95K, front coil spring (broke) at 97k, ABS control unit (which knocked out my cruise) at 130K, of course my ETM (electronic throttle module) somewhere in the low 100's and now it is the transmission for the tune of around $3500 (rebuilt, new would be over $5000). This is not mentioning all of the rattles, bad bulbs (headlamps, turn signals, etc) and things that just fall apart (door panels, shift knobs, etc).

Some things in life can nickle and dime you, this car $500 and thousand dollars me. I know maintenance is important and has to be done to all vehicles. But this car just seems to rip my wallet out of my hands and sucks it dry (a basic brake job for $800? Oil changes for $55?).

I purchased this vehicle because I heard nothing but good about Volvo's...that was the old days. A few years back Volvo wanted to team up with Ford and take Volvo to a "whole new level" and they did. Too bad it was to a new "sub" level. What really tic's me off is that Volvo is flooded with complaints about this car (and others) and chooses not to stand behind their product. They simply choose to SICK IT it the poor sole's who thought they were buying a good car.

Bottom line, when you pay a premium for a vehicle, you expect that vehicle to last and be reliable! I've owned many foriegn and domestic vehicles and I must say, "this is the WORST car I have every owned"! The only good thing is it has a great stereo!

If you are thinking of buying a Volvo, as you arrive at the dealer simply, turn and run away! DO NOT BUY A VOLVO! Especially a recent model XC70 (Cross Country).
