Catastrophic engine failure, in traffic, no warning lights. After having my 2016 Volvo XC60 routinely serviced, the ABS system was still on and I rolled into the shop to have it reset; actually the system needed replacing. They noticed that I had VERY little oil in the car (no oil light was on, btw) and asked me to come back in 500 miles to see if they could find a leak. I did; no leak found. Within 2 weeks the car stopped short in traffic. No warning. Lights, AC, & windows all worked. AAA tried to jump it but battery was fine - thought it was the alternator, but upon towing it to the shop, they discovered that the entire engine was locked up. No idea what the cause until they get inside, to replace it or perform diagnostics.
Now I'm replacing the engine with a 59k mile-used one, for about $7.5k parts and labor, just to sell it online. Without the engine no one will touch it apparently, and I need a car.
Buying a 2021 Lexus RX 350 now. SO DISAPPOINTED IN VOLVO.
