This is a car that has had four documented complete power failures.
The car would be full functioning, placed in the charger, and then would not start or show any power the next day.
Each time the car had to be flat bed towed to the Volvo dealership. Since the power had failed, the wheels could not be placed in a tow mode. Each time the vehicle required special skids to get on the truck. This involved at least five hours of multiple calls to the towing company as they did not realize the wheels were locked and sent the wrong type of tow truck. Volvo customer service sent the wrong trucks.
And, after each "fix", the problem recurred.
After four complete power failures, Volvo admits they do not have a solution. It might be fixed in an ill defined future software update. But, maybe not.
This is a very common issue with the Volvo XC40 recharge. Google "battery failure" for this car and there are posting of how common this issue is.
The problem appears to be common in both 2021 and 2022 models. I would avoid this car until Volvo acknowledges they have found a fix for this issue.
